    :D I'm home paddin finally

Ok, so I got a Red Octane Ignition pad for xmas from my parents.

Short version of my sad story as to why I didn't play on Christmas: At first I thought the pad was totally messed up, sensors broken, and I'd have to return it, but it turns out it was just the way the keys were laid out. They were sending too many signals at once and it was bogging it down. I don't know why the pad did that by itself when I tried to set the keys, but I had to come in with a playstation controller and set the buttons that way. THEN it worked perfectly.

My skill level took an INCREDIBLE jump JUST TODAY. I played for like, um, 2 hours. I went from hardly passing light songs to getting an A on some standard songs. Like Cowgirl, um, that captain jack song with the name in japanese... It feels like I'm getting so good at this game, and it's so so so much fun. Dancing bemani > finger bemani any day. I don't think I'm going to play FFR in a very long time. It's SO much more fun on a pad.

I haven't had it very long so I can't say much about the durability, but right now the pad itself is awesome, and I'm having tons and tons of fun. Once I'm actually good at this stuff I'll make a video with my camera, which I'm sure many people will love and adore. Nah, nobody will care, but I'll feel special, and that's all that counts.

Okay, I just wanted to brag. Pointless thread. Gotta love it. I got my pad! Wheeeee... I'm in such a state of utter joy.

Jake's CF tops yours =/ If it makes you feel special, I guess that's all that matters. And anyway, good job improving so fast.

CF is great, but I wouldn't want one. I couldn't stand using shoes all the time.

I hate shoes with a passion. Not just shoes. Boots. Sandals too, though they're not quite as bad and I prefer them to shoes. But I hate all footwear.

You can play without shoes, it'd just hurt sometimes.

I dont always use shoes when freestyling easy songs.

I never wear shoes when I play DDR...even in the arcade.

Have fun with your Home DDR.

            Same with me.

And I got used to the metal hitting my feet. I don't even feel it now.

I always play with my shoes off at home. When I get to the arcade, I use shoes though to not stub my toe. I once broke my toe in half playing dodgeball at school and I almost had to have screws put into my big toe. Luckily, it healed in 3 weeks but I cant stub it or it will break and hurt like hell.

I got DDR for my ps2 on christmas also, but I got 2 soft pads. Being the awesome kid I am, I taped cardboard to the bottom, and now my pads are just as good as a Red Octane! not really.. but it's actually pretty good. I own.

Feats of bravery. I can't do it.

I play with shoes. It actually makes me better.

I made a thread in the PIU (not DDR, but it's still relevant) forum about how I played a couple games at a boardwalk. I only had sandles, no shoes, so I had to take them off. I sucked. BAD.

I went to Craig's Cruisers a week ago or so with Ben (you would know him better as babybenji2004 OMG I GAVE AWAY YOUR NAME SORRY BEN LOLO) and got to play it again, with shoes. I did a hell of a lot better. It's a lot easier for me when I can play with shoes.

Very good idea!! I also got DDR for christmas and I have one soft pad where the top of it bunches up sometimes when I play something like A on heavy, even when it's duct taped to the floor. I shoulda thought of that before I went crazy duct taping my pad to the floor

Man dude you were owning the PIU machine. Good times and how dare you give away my name!!! I want to get a console version of it so bad. I can't play without shoes though. I suck to ungodly lengths and my feet hurt.

Arcade or home? If you're talking about arcade, you'll probably want to try playing it without shoes. It just might help ;D
