    Pokemon

I've made an attept at a remix here. Pokemon Battle theme, mostly because OCRemix has no pokemon remixes. Here is the link. I'd like to hear what you all think of it so I can make it better. Oh and by the way, I made it in FL.

Seems a bit slow for a battle song. Like, 1.5x that speed would sound good, but as is it's MEGA slow and soft, which is not the sound you want for a battle song.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Alright, I'll redo it at a higher speed and repost it later.

        EDIT: sped up:http://www.mp3unsigned.com/bands/2151pok_mon_battle.mp3

Alright, this post serves 2 purposes.

1)I've made a newer one that's even faster; another 10 BPM I think. Ialso made some minor changes, of which the only one I can think of is the addition of a reverse crash at the beginning. Here:http://us.share.geocities.com/afrobe...emonbattle.mp3
EDIT: I hate Geocities.... I'm never trusting them for hosting anything ever again.

          2)bump.

Pretty neat to listen to. It reminded me of the good old days of Pokemon game boy games.. =D
            Score: 8.5/10

I think I'll step it, too. What an honor for you.

I'm planning on submitting to FFR to be honest. Thanks anyway, though. Also, I've made a newer cut of it. I don't feel like getting it hosted, so if you want the newest version, hit me up on AIM, and I'll give you it.

EDIT: I still need an idea for a title, so if anyone has any ideas as for a "...(*something* mix) type of name or anything, post here or IM me your ideas.

                  Thanks a lot Benji.

I now have a final title decided: "Pokémon Battle (Satoshi Style)"
I've also uploaded the final version here: http://www.mp3unsigned.com/bands/2151pok_mon_battle.mp3

Now, to post in the audio submissions forum.

Make the melody stand out more, either by making it louder than the other instruments, or by using an instrument that stands out more, or giving it some kinda effect. I know you want to keep the nostalgic factor by using GB-like instruments, but it is a remix. Dont be afraid of pushing it. I'm afraid if I make any more suggestions, they would be about my personal preference of what style I would remix it with, and not yours.

Thanks a lot for bothering to post, but the things that you mentioned aren't the type of thing that would make or break the song. It could improve it, but it wouldn't make the song jump from sucking to being awesome.

I want to hear all of your opinions. I'm still quite new to FL, so even if I wanted to do something, I probably wouldn't know how anyway. Just tell me all your ideas and I'll try them out and see if I like it.

Also, since I'm back in school now, I won't have as much time for this or my other projects, so I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't even get a chance to open FL in the following week. I should have some time this weekend though, so I'll try to do your recomendation then.

Once again, it's all about your style. If it were me, I'd go for an almost Jazz-like style, with accents on notes, changing the rythmns around, putting in accidental notes here and there, slurs, and maybe even throwing in a new and original melody at some part in the song that goes well.

I'm a Buzzateer, man. All for one, and one for all.

I'm not sure about trying to make it a specific genre. When I do this, I sit down and mess around with stuff until I like it and don't worry about the genre. About the addition of melody: I don't think remixes should add new melodies. Counter-melodies are ok, but I don't think you should add new melodies. I did make the hat have some pitch variation though... although I wouldn't consider that melodic.

I think I will fiddle with it some more tonight or tommorow to see if I can spruce it up with some different instruments, and I'll even try getting non-FL standard instruments.

EDIT: I don't think that this melody would work as jazz. The main melody is all over the place and when I think of jazz, I think of laidback sax and stuff like that.

                            It's the fucking Pokemon song.

You can't do much with it.

Moogy has a point. Mess with it too much and it would stop sounding pokemon enough....
