I first made an account on osu! in like 2015 and I couldn't really get the hang of the game back then. I deleted my account and went back to StepMania. I tried again and made another account in 2019, but again it didn't really stick. Now I'm trying yet again to actually learn how to play this game. And I'm still playing with a mouse. Anyone have any tips for a total beginner? Like good easy beatmap packs or something.

If you are using a mouse, make sure to turn off 'Enhance pointer precision' in Windows mouse settings

Might be good for the long run to click the arrows using two keyboard buttons instead of mouse clicking, iirc it it helps when things get harder.Old Quotes

I broke 3 mouses on Osu in the lifespan of one keyboard from spinners.
The moment players started using the Tablet, I quit osu because fast streams were too hard with a mouse compared to Tablet.
I was in the top 200 in 2008 around when the game came out. I'm probably not even in top 1000 now.
tl:dr; I wouldn't recommend Osu circle unless you actually own a Tablet.Comment

It's a pretty vocal minority. For the most part you'll really only see Xel throwing a hissy fit everytime osu! is brought up, and after spending some time on this site you'll quickly realize they're better off put on your ignore list. No loss there.Comment

In terms of actual tips, try to start basic, find a skin that's right for you, good luck using osu's dumbass offset wizard, good luck

The game's charts aren't synced right, the editor to make content is AWFUL, content from Etterna has been stolen for osu, the community is bad, and the mechanics of the ranking system are just absurdly bad.
Every file on immense one fuck up you fail life drain is shit. Doubling the BPM for files for no reason is shit.
I could earnestly go for a long time. The short hand is, the game is just not an experience I'd think a lot of people could earnestly describe as "good." The game doesn't respect the players, or the people who make content for it. THAT'S my fucking issue with the game.
