    Foot massagers

Recently, my mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. As a gift, I would give him a foot massager as he was complaining of leg pain after a workday. After a little research, there seems to be general feedback on the internet tips: DO NOT use a foot massager for a diabetic patient. How true is this? Anyone with similar experience or claims?
Looking forward to some advice as I am not sure how to go ahead from here.
    Thanks

    Re: Foot massagers

People probably just don't advise using electronic/vibrating massagers on parts of the body that are affected by neuropathy (weakness, numbness, pain due to nerve damage). You run the risk of injuring yourself if you massage the shit out of a completely numb body part.

While providing temporary relief, it would probably just exacerbate the issue in the long run.

The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.
