    Some for the contributors...

Quite frankly, the fact that FFR is still a fun, addicting, active game after all these years is a miracle. The reason the game doesn't eventually die like every other flash game is because it's constantly changing and improving and getting better and better.

One of the ways that keeps FFR alive is the fact that people still submit songs, people still step songs, there are people that contribute to FFR to it doesn't die.

The point is, I think we should honor those people that contribute to this awesome game. Like, if you've either submitted a song, submitted a stepfile, donated, or supported FFR in any other way, you should get something. Like, maybe a tag or symbol by their name, or a forum title. Something that says "Hey, I contributed to FFR, and I'm damn proud of it!" Or maybe they could get a crap-load of credits, or access to a song that only contributors can play, or maybe even just a simple "Thank You" email from the Staff.

Just something to let them know we appreciate and honor them.

    That sounds incredibly stupid.
So it's basically like, hey I contributed to FFR, LOOK AT ME!
I am guessing you just submitted a song or something.

    -_-...

Some people would be proud to say that.

And no, I have not contributed anything to FFR.

I don't think it's "incredibly stupid". I've seen other web boards and sites do something similar. It's not such a bad idea. One board I'm on will not let users have custom avatars, but if you buy something from them (and I think it was anything, as little as the few dollars for their logo label pin would do it) the will let you have one. Another one I'm less familiar with will let you have a title under your name on its web board if you support the site, buying merchandise or giving donations or something. I think they're standard titles like "Supporting Member" or something, but still. As I said, I'm less familiar with that so I'm not sure exactly how they work it. But these sites are just giving a thank you to the people who help support them. I don't think there's anything really wrong with that. They should be able to do this if they want to.

I don't think you're really going to have the "look at me!" problem you seem to be concerned with. Analogy: PBS fund raiser drive thank you gifts. Have you seen how little they're worth compared to what you give? They go something like "for a donation of $100 you'll get a CD of the music played on this program" -- the CD's worth about $15 probably. Are people going to give the station $100 just to get a $15 CD? I doubt it. They give the station money because they want to support it. The item is the station's tangible thank you. It would be the same here. Are people going to donate money or create simfiles or whatever, take time and/or money, simply to get (for example) a title under their name on the board? I don't think so. It's not really an even trade. As with PBS gifts, you're typically putting in more than you get back. That's why I don't think people will do it just for the thank yous, they'll do it because they want to support the site. If the admins want to recognize their supporters, I think they should be free to do so. And no one says you have to accept the thank you gift. On that first site I mentioned, I did buy a pin and get a custom avatar made, but I chose not to use it. BTW, in some sense, this kind of system is already in place, but the thank you isn't publicly visible -- for a donation of $3 is it? you get to download the FFR game. Sure, you could just say you're buying the software, but if I'm not mistaken it's phrased on the page as if you donate, we'll let you download this.

Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers.

That's why Reach and Mwerp were mods at a certain point.

Well...I mean, don't they already have a semi-recognition system like that? I mean, Jello has "FFR Simfile Artist" next to his name, SGX has "Musical Artist"...you're just suggesting that we expand on that, which really, is quite a good idea, albeit low on the priority list.

You're right, but you see, they're not the only people that make music and say "FFR may use this song." There are plenty that do, and while their songs may not make it in the game, they still deserve something.
