It's that time again, folks! That's right just like clockwork the season for the Quadrennial TGB Threadmaking competition is upon us once again. It is amazing how time flies, seems like the last competition was only yesterday. Come join us for this twice in a decade celebratory event! (Alternatingly thrice depending on if it's an even or odd numbered decade.) (Wait is that how the math works out? 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036, 2040... Okay that's right.)
To explain the basics, as the moderator of TGB I am hosting a thread making contest in our beloved little den of shitposters for people who don't regularly post there. The rules are as follows: if you go into TGB, are not a regular poster there, and make a good-ish thread that is mildly funny or interesting and has a decent probability of getting 15 replies on its own I will sticky your thread to increase its exposure for the duration of the competition. Most threads with even an ounce of effort will be stickied, but only the first thread per contributor (unless your second/third/etc. thread really knocks it out of the park and it's super obvious how good it is.)
At midnight on the day after Election Day the thread from a non-TGB regular with the most replies minus their own will win the Golden Garbage Thread trophy, a physical a 4"x4" printed vinyl sticker of an MsPaint that I draw to commemorate their victory. Second place will revive the Silver Garbage Thread trophy, a 2"x2" sticker of the same MsPaint but where I use the fill tool to change the goldish color to a grayish color and change the word "Golden" to "Silver"
If you don't have access to TGB you can get your keycard by going to groups and applying for membership to the TGB Keycard group, and then you too can see what it is like to post in the haven of shitposting that is TGB. Be sure to check out our U.S. Election thread with like 700 lengthy responses and many of the other popular threads in the forum, as well as your daily array of nonsense and shitposting.
