The Games We Played (Full Edition) no sound

    Hello,

I apologize if this is a known bug (I've haven't been to this site in like two years), but whenever I try to play the full edition of The Games We Played, the file loads properly but there is no sound. This only happens in the R^3 engine, the others work fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I assume it has something to do with the large file size. Please help me play one the full edition of my favourite songs on FFR

The file is extremely bugged and honestly shouldn't be allowed to load in R^3, just like other files that do not load in the engine such as TWWW

Alright, I guess I'll play it on the R^2 engine instead

To get sound on TGWP on r^3 you need to set the framerate higher than 30fps. It does have to do with the exploit that was used to have such a long file.

Thanks axith, that actually works. I thought I had tried that before but apparently not.

Played the file, loved it. Just the repeated lefts in the beginning are impossible

I just wanted to bump this thread to thank this post. Had no clue why the full version had no sound but this fixed it.

As an added bonus, upping the framerate from 30-40fps also fixed a bunch of other problems I was frequently having. I was losing at least 50% of my games played (most within the first few seconds) due to the arrows getting blurry, lag, arrows randomly jerking and so on. At 40fps I'm getting none of that.

R^3 has two different "engines" that handle game files. Legacy (30fps) and New (non-30fps).

Because files are designed around still working on Legacy/Velocity engines, they uses engine specific hacks to play audio longer then 8 minutes.

In R^3, Legacy mode playback plays game files in the same method as the older engines (30fps locked) but without support of engine hacks due to the AS2->AS3 crossover. It does however work in non-30fps mode due to the playback extracting the level music and doing playback as though it's a music file. This gets around the 30fps lock that the Legacy mode had and also bypasses other old limitations.

In terms of TWWW and OMGWTFTOKEN, which aren't allowed playback in R^3, the level are based around a engine specific hack/gimmick that isn't easily recreatable on a level-by-level basis in R^3, and such scoring on R^3 would be unfair for the older engines where the level was designed in mind for it.
