The possibilities are endless with TWG. Setups vary immensely from one another or variants of previous setups. The group of players (especially on FFR) know each other enough that it is fun to always learn about oneself and others; and a chance to play against some of the best.
This particular community is always helping newer players while keeping a relative rivalry with some. I play EpicMafia (lol worthy) and where real time events are cool; their community is very terrible and horribly mannered.
I came to play TWG because a few people wanted me to check it out. I'm glad I had the opportunity and I'm still glad to have you guys let me continue to play and learn. Someday I'll move out of garbage tier

Being good at most games means being good with numbers and mathematical optimality. While those skills are sometimes helpful in TWG, they aren't what make a good player. Being good at TWG means accurately reading social interactions and interpreting politics, differentiating between genuine reactions and artificial ones, and being able to fake your own.
No other game I have played has such a psychological emphasis as TWG, and that's what makes it fun to me.Comment

Twg is life honestly. You have your town "your team" and you have your wolves, and even your sk's. All we have is what people say and what they do. You don't know their alignment until the opportunity shows itself. This is why it holds my interest. I like trying to catch liars, especially over small things, and when I do something right, it feels good, REALLY GOOD, I've even joked before that's its almost a kind of sexual satisfaction when a wolf is lynched because of me when I'm town.
Though I haven't been a wolf on forum in a while and never third party, it has a similar effect on me. When I role-read a cop and they die at night, or I kill a medic and later on fake-claim with relative safety assuming that I was right, and I turn out to be right, it feels really, really good.
Another part is just seeing how people play this game, naturally or unnaturally. I find reading/watching just about any TWG game to be enjoyable, which is probably why I was able read every single game.
A final small reason is that its one of the few things I consider myself to be GREAT, not GOOD at.Comment

In its simplest form, it's merely a game of deception, interrogation, and intuition. The classic Mafia game played with a deck of cards in parties is fun, but in the TWG/forum format, you can achieve much more. The TWG format allows for much more complexity from the classic game, and the degree of deception, interrogation, and intuition goes up to a completely different level.
Sure, you can do C9++ with a group of friends at a party, but the coordination it needs would be difficult to manage. Playing on a forum alleviates these difficulties (wolf chat? keeping the C9 setup secret?). Forum TWG also has length. lTWG and classic Mafia take about an hour, and they still invite plenty of trickery and drama. Day phases lasting a grueling 48-72 hours on forums can invite lengthier charades, and facades can crack and fade in a horrible, train-wreck style fashion.
Also, it's fun trying to solve the mystery and manipulating people to find out how it was constructed.Originally posted by the sun fan
