just read about it, it's a weird topic, i know, but it provokes a lot of questions about gender, video games, and internet communities. thoughts??

I remember when I was a kid, hearing that if you made a female character in World of Warcraft, you would get lots of free stuff from guys.

"hey want to quest together?"
"sure"

I can confirm this being true, owning a level 80 blood elf paladin up until the end of Wrath of the Lich King. People gave me free need rolls in raids all the time, people would suck up to my shitty healing instead of asking a priest, and the only thing that people talked about in guild chat was what color people thought my character's hair was.

Someone actually paid me 25k gold to know the color of my character's hair. PS it was blonde.

PSS my character's name was Lavender

there is no doubt that it turned into a reveal of mass collusion within games journalism
problem is, anyone could've predicted that given how games journalism was already obviously influenced by bribery
there's nothing special about this at all, pretty much all journalism is faked and anyone who writes for a living is not to be believed
