First, I want to emphasize that the thread I started was perfectly legitimate. I wished to have a thread where people could post Bible passages and others could discuss their meanings/interpretations/etc. I understand that the majority of posters here are atheist, but I thought that instead of people posting flippant comments such as these:
maybe people could (assuming they are of the dissenting opinion) disagree with the morality implied by the passages. For example, in response to Deuteronomy 22:5, someone could post:
I see no reason for the Bible to be outright ignored in this community, and even if you find a discussion of the Sky-Man to be too idiotic for you, you could simply not contribute.
I would also like to respond to this comment brought up in the thread:
I hope I have adequately dispelled the notion that this thread was started for the sake of trolling. Also, if this thread was not a Chit Chat thread, where else should it go?
If I have offended anyone, I apologize. I just wanted to have a legitimate discussion about the Bible, and I thought the best way to do so would be to specifically discuss the passages contained within it. Also, if the mods could reconsider preemptive locking of the thread, I would appreciate it.
