America really does need a new a new voting system. I'm didn't like how the electoral college said my mother's was wrong last time. Only I get that right. :V

I especially don't like how some of the air force guys I knew thought that voting was necessary, even with non-issues. When I told them I didn't vote for a president in '08 cause I couldn't find one to like, they said I gave up the right to complain about it cause I didn't voice my opinion, which I thought was weird since my opinion was "I don't like either of them." Doesn't help the party system we have is skewed towards a two-party brawl that should have more representation that just liberals and conservatives, but that's for another time.

It would be nice if I felt like my vote mattered and I didn't have to vote against the person I dislike the most. I want to see more people and options on ballots, but there doesn't seem to be much.

Gah I gotta let off some steam.

Frankly he doesn't give enough details for my liking. I think I have to agree more with the interviewer although I like that he isn't afraid to take a stand by not voting. Sometimes inaction is powerful in it's own right.

tbh he reminds me of stoners who came up with some "brilliant" thought.

"Hey dude.. what if we like.. what if we like.. stop fighting and have world peace all over man.. Cause fighting is wrong, man. I think I'm on to something here!"

That's about the extent of his criticism. He talks a lot but says very little. Sure, he brings attention to an issue, but if you look past his punchlines, he's simply saying that something needs to be done about things and stuff (and sure, things aren't perfect as they are but sitting and simply talking about how we need change isn't going to magically change things). I don't agree with the interviewer either though, with the idea of "not having a right to criticize when you don't vote". That's just fallacious and he's being a douchebag. You don't need to actively participate to point out flaws in a system. But it's not like Russel Brand is pointing out flaws that nobody has noticed before.

I agree with spitfire mostly. I can appreciate how unlike most people he is thinking for himself, but it is not very well thought out.

I don't have any real opinions on the subject matter so I'm not going to criticize his idea itself. Just seems like it could be more defined.

Yeah, I'm not trying to invalidate russel brand's idea itself if that's the impression my comment left (kudos to russel for standing up for his views), but he's very unspecific about all of this.

The interviewer though is a complete moron. It's like he isn't even listening to what Brand is saying. "BUT U DIDN'T VOTE!" Well, no shit, he basically just told you why he considers it problematic.

Anyways what Brand is saying is nothing new. We all pretty much know how our system is dysfunctional. Brand is just expressing it with a bit of eloquence and... fervor?

The real question is how we can fix all these problems. Unfortunately, the solutions are a little harder to express and defend.

I think there's more problem with this than there is with Brand's opinion. How long has that guy been interviewing? Why was he so inflexible and opinionated. That's what I find disturbing mostly out of this interview.

Also I think Brand was more expressing that he wanted to put his money where his mouth is, so to speak, by helping first-hand instead of electing someone to do it for him.
