Which is more important in life?

    Education or money?

Education is something that no one can take away from you and it will always be there when you need it. Money on the other hand, is essential to survive and without money you would not be able to afford an education. In my opinion, both of them go hand in hand, but there can only be one better choice. If you only had to choose one then which do you think will benefit you more?

My choice would be education because I can use the knowledge that I gain to earn money, but there are slight technicalities involved. For example, in order for me to get an education I would need to get money first to pay for a college tuition. In this case money is essential to survive, right? I have a loophole in my theory.

Let's say an individual gets a full time job at McDonalds and is on minimum wage. They save up their money and in three months they are able to afford a tuition at their nearest community college. Now they have the ability to get an education, but there is only problem, time. They have the job and they have the education but for them to excel in either of the two they would need to sacrifice one for the other. You need money to pay your rent, phone bill, transportation, and food. You need an education to gain the knowledge and skills required to attain a salaried job that can provide you with higher and better chances of survival.

So it comes down to these options: education and money. What would you choose and why?

This is not a particularly useful question because we could just say "I choose money -- and then I'd buy education" or "I choose education -- and now I am smart enough to earn a lot of money."

You don't have to sacrifice one for the other. AJ and I are both going to college, both have a job, pay rent, utilities, etc, and are raising two children.

There's not much to elaborate on. I'm saying that based on the way the question is structured, you can answer the question either way and effectively say "If I pick one, I can use it to get the other and have both in the end"

There's nothing to elaborate on in this case. As Marcus said, you can get money to pay for an education -- or, you can get an education (through means of the government) to get a good paying job for stability. This question doesn't allow for much discussion.

If you want to be as simple as possible on this question, the logical answer is money. Yes, you can live under primal circumstances and hunt for food/create shelter, etc, but you realistically need money to support yourself for living a normal lifestyle. Not having an education isn't detrimental to your state of being -- you could potentially survive without an education through lower-paying jobs in areas where housing is incredibly inexpensive, and still be able to pay for food/water/other necessities to survive.

Education. You can learn outside of school. Life is a learning experience.

With that said, fuck university/college for now.

I'll put it this way -- let's say you could only get one but without the other.

In this scenario, I'd pick money over education, easily.

In most instances, you need education to get money and you need money to get education.

Kinda like you need a job to get experience and you need experience to get a job.

I'm very aware of this phenomenon but I think that I'd rather suffer my whole life but be able to leave something behind that contributes to the overall "betterment" of humanity over living a comfortable life that, once over, will become wholly irrelevant and eventually forgotten to all.
I actually have to agree with you on that one and it is exactly the point that I was trying to get across from choosing education over money. Having the ability to absorb insight on life and learning about the world and it's mysteries is much better than making lots of money by doing the same repetitive things over and over again. Money could probably make you happy for a short limited amount of time, but in the long run it still won't give you that sense of satisfaction that we as human beings are unonciously craving for. Intelligence and wisdom can provider deeper satisfactions because it keeps you more in tune with the aspect of life even if you won't leave a legacy behind because you'll still have that inner satisfaction. Although, and this is what gets me, without money then how will you be able to achieve that satisfaction?

Steal books? Infiltrate college classes? Scrounge for literature in the garbage bins? What means of access will you use to gain that knowledge? This is where money will need to come into play.

                            You need money to life.
You don't need education to life.

                            Therefore Money > Education.

I'm pretty sure even knowledge gets boring after a good chunk of years invested in it. It's useful, but it's not necessary to be happy. If you want to feel accomplished/satisfied, you don't need to be in love with your job, you can find a hobby that makes you happy too or focus your life on other things. As long as the income compensate what you need to pay, you're free to work on how you want to educate yourself. In fact, you may even have more freedom that way. If you're really smart and get that bachelor etc. etc. it's quite possible that you figure out that there's simply no demand for your interests and you're still in a bad situation. It's possible to be lucky, but the safest bet remains money imo.

Now by education, do you mean formal education? Like in a classroom setting with teachers? Because like pseudo said, life is a learning experience, and that is far more valuable to me than money.
