[Concluded] FFR Pokemon Draft Tournament DRAFT

The time has come for the official draft process. Please try not to post other than to make your draft selection. We are using standard OU rules, so only Ubers are not allowed, and they are listed here:

    Uber

Pokémon that are seen as too powerful for standard play. This could be due to massive stat total, insane movepool, or the power to over-centralize the meta-game if they were to remain in OU (often, all 3 of these reasons apply).

    Arceus (All Forms)
    Blaziken (Speed Boost)
    Darkrai
    Deoxys
    Deoxys-A
    Deoxys-D
    Deoxys-S
    Dialga
    Excadrill
    Garchomp
    Genesect
    Giratina (Both Forms)
    Groudon
    Ho-oh
    Kyogre
    Kyurem-W
    Lugia
    Manaphy
    Mewtwo
    Palkia
    Rayquaza
    Reshiram
    Shaymin-S
    Thundurus
    Tornadus-T
    Wobbuffet
    Zekrom

Also here are the remaining pokemon divided by tier. NFE pokemon are not listed, but you are more than welcome to select them as well. It must also be stated that once a pokemon is selected, you must select a single form of that pokemon (if it comes in multiple forms) to use on your team. For instance, should one select Landorus, he must specify which form will be used.

    Overused (OU)

The standard Pokémon competitive metagame in which Pokémon that are most often seen reside. They are generally recognized for this, their wide move pools and their high potential. Pokémon enter the OU tier if they achieve a usage % of at least 3.41% on Smogon's Pokémon Showdown Server. There are 51 total OU Pokémon.

    Borderline (BL)

Pokémon that are recognized as being too powerful for UU play. Yet, these Pokémon are a tad bit underwhelming when it comes to OU play. In some cases its just due to lack of field play. As of now, there are 4 Pokémon in this tier. Since they are deemed as overpowered in UU, they can only be used in OU play. Certain Abilities are banned from the Underused tier and lower tiers as well for their overwhelming presence, such as Drought and Sand Stream.

    Chansey
    Gothitelle
    Kyurem
    Staraptor

    Underused (UU)

Pokémon that are not commonplace in a competitive environment due to more hindering flaws, or just plainly outclassed. They are generally lacking in potential, though several are still quite playable in OU. There are 59 Pokemon that makeup the UU tier.

    Borderline 2 (BL2)

These Pokémon are recognized for being too powerful to handle in the RU tier, but aren't used enough to make the UU Tier list. This is usually due to something in UU doing their job better. Currently, there are 2 Pokémon in this tier.

    Cresselia
    Venomoth

    Rarelyused (RU)

Pokémon that have nearly crippling flaws and are typically easily outclassed by other Pokémon in OU and UU. Most of these Pokémon have specific niches in the higher tiers, but find a place to shine with the more powerful threats locked away in higher tiers. This tier was formed in Generation V to keep the NU tier from having nearly 300 Pokémon in it. There are currently 58 Pokémon in the RU tier.

    Never Used (NU)

Pokémon that are generally not seen at all due to being highly limited and unpopular. Their stats and movepools may be, and usually are, very lacking compared to the higher tiers. Most of these Pokémon don't even have a specific niche in the higher tiers. With the advent of the Eviolite item in Generation 5, there are many more NFE Pokémon that are viable in NU than there were in Generation IV. There are a whopping 206 Pokémon in the NU tier as of this writing.

Wait, why is Garchomp banned? He's OU on smogon... Same for Wobbuffet (although he's much lamer).

Because Chompy was banned at one point, and not too long ago there was a brouhaha over Sand Veil hax.

Sand Veil is banned to Ubers on showdown because of the evasion clause. Also, Salamance was Uber at one point too, wasn't he?
I mean, I wasn't planning on picking Garchomp, but still... I mean, any ice beam wrecks him.

Re: FFR Pokemon Draft Tournament DRAFT

Salamence was uber in DPP, but with the power creep in BW, he became balanced again.

But just because the elitist asshats at Smogon have these clauses doesn't mean we have to follow them unless Arkuski says otherwise.

Well, we're using Showdown, and they've got those clauses implemented into the OU game. I just assume evasion/sleep/other clauses will be in effect.

also, at this rate, literally this draft pick is going to take like 2 and a half months.

Something theoretical to work?: everyone sends in a team of 6. Arkuski will go through and announce only the pokemon that were valid up to the first duplicate. Eveyone sends in however many they need to resend.

                        e.g.

eastside - bulbasaur, ivysaur, venusaur, blastoise, wartortle, squirtle
tc_pr0 - charmander, charmeleon, zapdos, ivysaur, moltres, suicune
igotrhythm - igglybuff, jigglypuff, wigglytuff, ditto, smeargle, arceus

everyone's first 3 pokemon would go through. igotrhythm's ditto would go through (if picking order is 1-2-3-3-2-1) and tc_pr0 would have the duplicate ivysaur.

then eastside &, tc_pr0 need to send in 3 more, igot sends in 2

                          TC_Pr0 PICKED SALAMENCE

                          Wolfhunter's pick next

also, at this rate, literally this draft pick is going to take like 2 and a half months.

Something theoretical to work?: everyone sends in a team of 6. Arkuski will go through and announce only the pokemon that were valid up to the first duplicate. Eveyone sends in however many they need to resend.

                          e.g.

eastside - bulbasaur, ivysaur, venusaur, blastoise, wartortle, squirtle
tc_pr0 - charmander, charmeleon, zapdos, ivysaur, moltres, suicune
igotrhythm - igglybuff, jigglypuff, wigglytuff, ditto, smeargle, arceus

everyone's first 3 pokemon would go through. igotrhythm's ditto would go through (if picking order is 1-2-3-3-2-1) and tc_pr0 would have the duplicate ivysaur.

then eastside &, tc_pr0 need to send in 3 more, igot sends in 2
The problem with this is forming a cohesive team. For instance, the picks may work out such that you have six sweepers and no walls, or even six pokemon that are weak to ice. I had thought about that, but a long draft won't hurt anybody, it'll just build up hype.

I know a guy who scared the fuck out of people with a particular Wigglytuff build. Be careful what you wish for.

i disagree. I don't want to wait 2 fucking months to play. also
