Is FFR allowed to accept advertisements by artists?

    Is FFR allowed to accept advertisements by artists?

    So I recently got permission from YAWA Recordings to step the song "The Rhythm" by Ti-Mo, and after I told them thanks, I got this message:

    First of all, I need to explain to them that the song may not be accepted. But if it is, then I would assume (referring to the last line of the e-mail) that this advertising that they offer might be something like a message on twitter linking FFR's website. Would something like that be okay?

      the only form of advertising that i could see being viable is as part of a front page post or a songs of the week thread. in-game advertising is a no-go afaik.

          He means them advertising FFR, which there really shouldn't be any reason to say no. Anything to bring more traffic would be nice. Been kinda dead around here.

              he means the artist advertising us, not the other way around.

              Also, I don't see any reason why not, but i'd get an official answer.

                  Actually it's the opposite, it's more active than it's been in a loooong time. But yes afaik that's a great offer from the artist!

                      I wouldn't consider this site to be very active. I remember when you couldn't keep up with all the new posts, now half the time I'm like oh there's been none in hrs k will check again in a few hours.

                              Well obviously before the site went down it was more active lol, but tgb and prochat have been a lot more bumpin recently. They can def bring more traffic with their ads tho that'd be great

                                  if advertising for FFR is going to be effective, widgets need be an option again for their accessibility.

                                      I'm gonna say no to reviving widgets because it forced people to rush files and, well, we have a bunch of 3 minute plus rock songs that nobody wants to play as a result of that.

                                      As for the idea that the file will likely wait several months to see the light of day, assuming it passes muster at all with the 9th official looming, I think OP is right to guard his optimism about someone else pushing FFR.

                                              what mi40 said -- i really don't understand your logic at all. where do you get the idea that simfile authors are forced to do either of the things you mentioned in your first sentence?

                                                          I want the revival of widgets for both advertising and so I can play some of the songs I never got to play.

                                                          Like that Ashlee Simpson widget.
