Hello everyone! These are signups for the FFR Pokemon Draft Tournament that will commence starting with the draft beginning at 12:00 PM EST on October 1, 2013. Signups will end precisely at 12:00 PM EST on September 30, 2013. Here is what will happen in the tournament:
1) Sign-Up
2) Draft
3) Tournament
So after everyone has signed up, we will begin the draft process. All competitors will be ordered and, when prompted, select one Pokemon to be a part of their team. Once a particular Pokemon is selected, it will not be able to be selected by any other participant. To move the draft along expediently, the participant will have exactly 24 hours from the previous selection to make a selection.
Suppose there are four people in the draft. If the ordering is 1, 2, 3, 4, then the picks will occur as follows: 1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1. Basically, the people on the ends get to pick twice.
I have not decided on which rule set will be used, and I would really appreciate it if you guys could tell me which environment would be most fun to play in (Uber, OU, UU). Also, if fewer people are involved in the tournament, it may be fun to have a draft of a subsection such as the RBY Pokemon, so poor draft choices are required by the end.
After the draft, a double elimination tournament will be established through random selection. This process too is up for debate as well. Since Pokemon battles tend to be relatively short and influenced by randomness, it may be more fair to have competitors participate in a best 3 out of 5 per round. Each round will take a week to complete. It will be up to the competitors to organize the best times to battle against each other. Penalties will be discussed for discrepancies in result reporting as well as failure to complete the battle. Again, if you guys have suggestions I would love to hear them.
