that happens to me whenever i scroll past mundo brutale in hsmp9

never found out how to fix it..

since it happens with every song i'm assuming it's some compatibility problem..

happens to me too specifically on that song and others, and i believe it's because there's something wrong with the background image, or that it isn't in the folder, and then it's followed by infinite scrolling

however, at least on my theme, the scrolling stops if i start forcing it to scroll the opposite direction

and the error only occurs on like 2 or 3 songs in my entire song folder

op, have you tried clicking "Don't show again"?

otherwise i would open all of the files and remove their gfx as a last resort

Same with something something Breeze in 96 solo files

maybe the banner has to be a png

I tried to click the don't show again thing, it doesn't work. I think it has to be .png, yet someone has to confirm that. Is there anything we could do? Literally 2/3 songs in odipack3 do this to me.

I'm currently trying to change their extension back to .pgn one by one at the moment, currently have nothing else to do (besides talking to hateandhatred and playing video games). Will come back with info if it works.

By the way, if it's really giving the error because of the .jpg, someone either has to fix stepmania 5 so it can read them, or we must raise awareness so that people make their backgrounds as .png. It would be great.

edit: yeah, forget it. It's not working. I'd have to fully convert them, which would take too much time. I guess it's out with the cool backgrounds, then.

my sm reads all of the odi3 files fine, so it's not a global problem

if this is happening ONLY with odi3 pack for you, it might be that your download or extraction of files was corrupted (for the images at least)

try redownloading the pack completely & replacing the files + reloading them

Nah it's not the first time. It happened with yessss's crimson rose & gin tonic, for example, and a few other files I can't remember.

For the record, to circumvent any error that causes the song wheel or other elements of the game to move uncontrollably, simply tap the direction that the error made the selection go (i.e. if the song wheel is spinning right, tap the right arrow)

obviously not a fix; I'm not sure why JPGs aren't working for you. Maybe it's a Mac thing?

I removed the .jpg from the folders that had them and left .pngs. It's working brilliantly now, but I'm missing a bunch of bgs.

oh god, that's happening because in the .sm files it still has the line

;BACKGROUND:jordan-bg.png

jesus christ, manually removing backgrounds isn't going to solve the problem

why anyone would even use JPEG format in 2013 is beyond my comprehension

JPEG is by far the worst file format when it comes to almost everything to do with graphics. I can spend a whole day talking about file formats when it comes to images but it's irrelevant to this thread so tl;dr version is stop using JPEG whoever is still living like it's year 2002

I know there is an option when compiling/building stepmania to enable/disable jpeg support. However, considering the image format itself, you are just better off using png... Although, I guess they disabled it when building by default? *shrugs* Just edit the file/change the stepfiles banner/background/etc as needed. (If uses jpeg)
