    Making Film Soundtracks

Sometimes when I watch movies I pay attention to the music since I hate movies and then I notice how the music raises and lowers in volume in perfect timing with what's going on in the movie. How the heck do you do that, like is the movie planned according to the music or are the sounds made separately and layered over an ambient background track, then added in during editing?
since i was going to make a short film i need it 2 be good

          Watch movie
          Make music
          Paste music over movie
Separate audio and music from video track
          Change music volume accordingly

/halfassed, costs little to no money.

I have made some film scores over the past few years. In most scenarios, music is done after the editing and production of the film. It obviously depends on what movie you are talking about, but let's just say it takes forever. The orchestration, builds, rises, falls and everything of a track can significantly impact the mood / setting of a scene as subtle as it might be. It's an art. I love it.

EDIT: Fantasia is one of my favorite movies of all time. Finding Nemo as well. The music is unbeatable.

Tons of effort and time, like all aspects of a movie
