    Cyber Bullying in 10 years

So everyday we hear about people who are terrorized online for random reasons, but the people doing it are never punished because of their anonymity(whatever) online. It seems like people are starting to take it more and more seriously lately though, especially since a lot consider cyber bullying worse than real life bullying(which has pretty bad consequences nowadays in schools).

I'm wondering if in the next 10 years or so the government will develop someway to quickly find out the info on cyber harassers and punish them with jail time(if bad enough, which a lot of trolls are).

Do you think this is possible/what do you think about all of the people bit bin about cyber bullying. Personally I think kids should just develop some tough skin and suck it up, unless its actually starting to cause people to mess with the. In real life.

I had made enemies with a guy over the Internet one time and he actually found my address and called the police to my house on completely bullshit claims, but I couldn't really do anything about it because I didn't know the guys information.

i think jailing somebody because they were fucking with somebody online is a bit much tbh

maybe if it gets to the point of full blown harassment, which it often does...
iunno but imho if you can't resist an internet bully then you're kinda...lost

Old people don't get the Internet. They don't understand the level of sarcasm that occurs in my generation(sorry teens, unless you were born in the 80's you're a different generation), and we will begin to see a massive amount of Change occur I. The next 15 years. Until then, we are still fucked

It depends on the situation. When someone is continuously pushed into doing terrible things such as commiting suicide, then the situation becomes very serious, and the "troll" in question is in fact performing a crime.

Overall I don't see it possible to appropiately punish cyberbullies; we're already being spied enough by the NSA, and it's really easy to stay anonymous by simply hiding behind seven proxies if you must. On top of that, most cyberbullies are pretty vague and aren't actually commiting a crime.

Furthermore do I think that people who use the Internet should get some tougher skin, and either learn to simply ignore bad people or be taught to (by their parents or whoever lets them use the Internet).

Actually it's already happening, the question is how much you need to do to get their attention.

Depends on what you mean by harassment
If someones just talking shit online and bothering people, getting jailtime for it would go against right to free speech imo, and whoever is getting bothered can just block the "bully" on potentially all networks
If someone is threatening someone else though, that's entirely different, just like real life scenarios
Just depends on the extent haha

The bold words are the words of a man who doesn't know/remember/care what it's like to be bullied. It's all the same, they've just gotten more sophisticated with how they're doing it. It's not just being shoved into lockers and having belongings snatched and held out of reach anymore.

Insert conspiracy guy meme here: What if the NSA's recently exposed spying was in fact a concerted effort to combat this form of harassment?

The only person responsible for the suicide should be the person who decided to kill themselves. If anything, our culture is responsible for suicide, I'm not sure how you would bring charges against our entire culture in a court of law. Our laws are the very things that perpetuate conditions where people are rendered incapable of challenging the existing system through a legal process. A person should not be held accountable for another person's decision to commit suicide, especially in cases where the supposed "suspects" are not capable of physically stopping the person from killing themselves. This just sounds like the government wants to increase the scope of their behavior policing policies.
