So, as some of you know, I've been playing in a band on a cruise since December. I'm now over two months in and I have to say I'm having the best time of my life. We literally work 1-3 hours a night, and the rest of the time I have off to go travel and explore or do whatever the hell we want. We don't have to pay for anything on the ship. The food here is very high quality and I'm living a very healthy lifestyle, much healthier than at home. Not to mention the gym is right down the hall from our rooms so we are going there daily as well. We get to go on free tours and adventures such as ziplining, scuba, skydiving, rainforest walks, submarines etc.
At first I was drinking a lot. They provide us with free alcohol a lot of the time, and when it's not free it's so cheap that I can't even make a dent in my salary if I try. We have our own bar that goes right outside to the bow of the ship. At night it's really nice to be out there. Especially if you have a girlfriend to look at the amazing sky with in the middle of the ocean, which I have had for the majority of this cruise and I thank her so much.
If all of that wasn't enough, we get full room service. Our beds are made every day for us, rooms are cleaned/restocked. We can order food to the room at any time and all of this is at no cost.
I am most likely going to take another contract for a different part of the world this year. This job is a dream come true. I can't believe I'm getting paid so much for doing almost no work, not to mention when I do work, I'm having a great time playing in a great band.
