    Blast from the Past

    Hey guys o/

Today I'll show you a very old song of mine, this was made in the middle of 2010, just when I was starting to get "seriously" into using FL Studio,
and moving away from using loops to compose. (loops are fine IF you edit them, or create something new with them (drum breaks etc.) not use entire melodies because I was too unskilled to craft them )

I had no knowledge of mixing, mastering or music theory.

Nope, didn't even know what a scale was, made this entire piece by experimentation using my ear.

So yeah, flashback to now: I decided it would be fun and nostalgic to re-mix (aka correct the mix), and remaster (aka actually master instead of just using a limiter) some older tunes and this is the first one:

    https://soundcloud.com/cbr/journey-through-the-fabric-of

Everything you hear, soundwise here is kept original I just fixed the mix and master.

Got any older songs any of you want to post? Share them with me in this thread
I find re-mixing and remastering a fun practice and it really helps you understand how much you've grown as an artist.

All said in done, besides that this piece doesn't really seem to go anywhere, I don't think this is all that bad haha

      quack

make a re-visioned version (using your signature chill vibez) using those duck samples and i'd probably love it

the melody is actually fitting the with the samples, just dont like the drums and its too fast for its own good.

ps: lol at you improving at a rate of 5-10 times as fast as me and i make music pretty much every day. feels bad, man.

        Re: Blast from the Past

Alright, I'll bite, even though most of my old stuff has been lost since my harddrive crashed and most people who know who I am have already heard them. It's mostly terrible shit anyway, so I'll just post some 5-8 year old stuff that I still like.

Dragon Emperor Palace - For some fucking genius reason I never saved this project file even though it sounds totally boss. I'm a retard.
laughign - written on my laptop in 15 minutes, using one single VST and two audio samples (Bill's laugh from L4D and some random DnB loop). old as fuck, but still pretty funny.
megerm nenm - wrote this a long time ago after jacking off to Kil's SNES stuff. I should probably finish this some day 'cause that last segment is boss.
skulls and crossbones - wanted to write a "metal pirate thing". dunno how well I managed to land the theme, but it still sounds pretty good. this is only a couple of years old I think.
synth 1 megaman arrange - written to test synth1 out, sounds pretty good, never saved the project file.
randomplingplong - I remember the climax in this song gave me chills the first time I wrote it. I don't think I have this project file anymore, but this still sounds pretty epic.

        my masterpiece:
war on wario - written in like 5 minutes in guitar pro, sequenced in FL. I think this is one of my first tracks ever.
and for everyone who listened to that amazing piece of shit:
war on wario epic orchestral arrangement EL OH FUCKIN' EL ps I still think this sounds pretty fuckin' cool, especially towards the end

oh shit I should add this too:
bursurk lurk wa skurk - not an unreleased track but it's definitely extremely old and terrible and I still think it's hilarious.

edit: hahaha rubber duck is awesome
wait what the fuck that was only 6 months ago? wow. I feel insignificant now posting these things.

as weird as it may sound, the more ridiculous the songs are, the more interesting it is to listen to. I have a feeling this thread's gonna be good ;>

first song I have still recorded was when I was still learning how to speak proper english. Did a cover of Agent Orange's Bloostains in 2002 lmao

This is my first chiptune after zaghurim started the Eternal Chiptune Brawl compilation on ODI. He basically introduced me to chip music composing through fakebit vsts and this basically started it all back in mid 2008 (it sucks penis)

and because it matters to me, this was my first LSDJ track from mid 2008 as well.
