I'm usually afraid of sounding like I know absolutely nothing about music haha.

Quality/composition wise this is of course fantastic.

Though compared to your other works I find this relatively tame. I guess it's too 4/4 and straightforward for my tastes (even though my own compositions hypocritically are even worse when it comes to this). The beats aren't very dynamic but that comes relatively standard for this style of music, which was executed very well. Just personal taste really.

Re: Through the Lenses- Anime Trance

It's a nice, somewhat mellow tune, but I don't think there's enough going on in this song to keep my interest.
I really like the piano, but I think this would probably sound better with vocals, or at least some lead instrument or something... I don't know, it just feels like something's lacking.

I understand where you got the "anime trance" tag from though, heh.

EDIT: Also, I think I'm pretty shitty at commenting on other people's music unless they specifically do something that I don't like. There are plenty of tracks posted here that I think are bad or lackluster in general, but I can't put my finger on why I don't like them. In that case, simply posting "track is bad bye" feels really disrespectful and unhelpful, so I generally end up not commenting at all in that case. Personal preference also weighs in here. For example, I generally don't comment on dubstep or other genres of music because I think the entire genre sounds boring/crappy by default. In those cases, I only bother posting when I liked the song despite the "shortcomings" of the genre. You may have noticed I didn't post in any of your hit single whatever threads? Yeah, that's exactly why. I'd have nothing to say aside from "this genre suks sooooo bad lmfao ur wasting ur talet", and in those cases it's better to keep my mouth shut.

I don't understand why I dislike popular music so bad when I listen to plenty of doujin music that has its roots in shit rock/pop though. Tatsh's Four Seasons of Loneliness is a pretty good example: It's pretty standard pop/rock, yeah, but I love the shit out of it anyway. I'd call it incomprehensible, but I don't think I'm shallow enough to dismiss music simply because it's popular, so there's got to be something that sets stuff like FSoL apart from the mass-produced I've long since gotten tired of hearing.

I realize now that FSoL may be a bad example as it hardly sounds anything like modern popular music, but oh well. I'm going off on a tangent here, so I'll just shut up now.

ps I thought I'd commented on this 'cause I remember opening the thread but I guess not. oops!

I think it's important for a composer to understand and figure out how to keep a song dynamic.
Absolutely, and pointing out that the track is boring is also fine, but I think it's important to add why you think it's boring, otherwise you're just being an ass IMO.
I'm not exactly the most subtle guy around and I've had my share of asshole comments, but I'm trying to stay away from shit like that nowadays.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with pop as a genre; it's just that it feels like the average pop song has absolutely nothing going for it. I think most pop songs rely far too heavily on vocals to the point where the song itself is largely unimportant. As a result, it's way too common that a popular song has no substance whatsoever aside from the vocals, and that's why I think it sucks. Another thing to note is that a lot of pop tends to use minor scales but without making it sound like Megaman, which completely ignores the entire point of minor. This is a scientifically proven fact btw.

or maybe they're just using minor for verses and then switching to major for chorus or somethingl ike that I dunno either way I hate it when music doesn't sound like megaman WHY CAN'T EVERYTHING SOUND LIKE MEGAMAN FGHSASD

            sweet~
Levels = nice~ and transitions are fantastic.
Mckunckle-chan pointed out that a lead part was missing which I may agree with but, it's so "..tame" - Kommi-chan, 2012.
I would've taking this into a dance/trance thing with a build-up starting at 1:08, where a main lead would take over leading into the "chorus"; lasting up until 1:34. and... iono what i'd do after that.

Still great composition mang. Iono how i didn't see this sooner
