Can't find my DWI file!

    Can't find my DWI file!

    I created a stepchart and everytime I save it, it says "Saved as .sm and .dwi".
    Then when I go into the folder where the .dwi should be, there is only the .mp3 and the .sm file that I made when I started.
    I tried to make another song and the same thing happens, there's no .dwi file.
    Is there any way to fix this?

      I had this exact same problem last batch, as did Soul.
      PM me your file(s) and I can send you the .dwi

      Though if you want to try to fix it yourself, I recall that I tried a trick where I made a new .sm and copied the notes over to the new one. That .sm would save a .dwi for some reason...

          If you're using vista or windows 7 and your stepmania is in your program files, you're going to have to go into your songs folder and look at the top part of the window. You should see compatibility folders somewhere, click that and you should see you .dwi

                  No problem. I highly recommend putting your SM somewhere outside your program files. Otherwise you'll always run into this problem because when something is in program files it needs administrator permission to do basically anything. It's such a pain.

                      PS, the .sm you sent me was completely blank... sooooo not sure what's up with that

                          Probably also because he needed to go into compatibility files. I'm tellin you, it screws up a lot of stuff lol.

                              Wait, something weird happened. I moved the whole Stepmania folder to my My Documents folder, and now when I open up SM a bunch of my highscores are missing and my file doesn't even show up in game (even though I have the .sm and the .dwi file in the folder). Also, the compatibility files that were there before are now gone. What's happening??

                                  That's a new one for me, I'm honestly not sure unless some components didn't move over when you moved it.
