I did a study abroad semester a couple years ago through my community college. it was super cheap and i got to see a lot of europe by learning all about the scrappy public transit options. the semester itself was in Florence, Italy, a crappy-on-the-surface-but-actually-pretty-amazing city. bounced around Italy a bit and spent a few weekends in France and Holland and the Czech Republic. one day i'll be able to afford a trip abroad again, it was definitely one of the best experiences i've had

What was it that helped you most to lose weight and got to where you are now?

*sorry if it's a bit personal. I can somewhat relate to you with this since my highest was 195lbs earlier this year and I'm now at about 165lbs but it's now harder for me to lose weight and I need some help with finding a good diet and exercise plan*

I got another question too that I wondered about for a long time, hehe....

What the hell is up with CCCP???? I want the whole story about it (pattern choices, etc. xD)

no worries at all, i'm pretty open about it haha. i was 200-225lbs all through high school (5'9") and always had self-image issues. when i graduated, i moved to california with the idea of 'fresh start, time to redo myself entirely.' i joined a martial arts school and did kickboxing, taekwondo, and eskrima 5-6 days a week while strictly counting out 1800 calories a day till i got down to 170lbs or so, at which point i started taking it easy. it took about three weeks to adjust to the activity + radically reduced food intake, but after that it was a cakewalk and i felt physically better all the time.

also, drinking about a gallon of water a day (your piss should be straight up clear). and this DEFINITELY isn't advice, but being a heavy smoker since early high school probably kept my metabolism up and made my workouts more strenuous lol.

sounds like you've already gotten down to a reasonable weight (though idk your height, i weigh roughly the same as you now), so mad props to you for that. if you want to lose more, just set aside about 8 weeks of moderate calorie counting (not breaching ~1800-2000/day) and you could see a 5-10lb drop without killing yourself.

I got another question too that I wondered about for a long time, hehe....

oh lordy. if you've seen my other files from CCCP's era (FAXX, Chipscape) you'll see there was a fixation with absolute technical correctness that resulted in really stilted awkward simfiles. CCCP was by far the most ambitious of the bunch. almost no thought went into playability--i simply wanted every note to be accurate (which they aren't, oftentimes lol). the 64th+16th nonsense bursts were as close as i got to approximating the rhythms, and they came out *doable* but still ridiculous.

I was also frequently in cahoots with npv in those days, and he was a veritable NAZI for PR and technicality. he made heavy edits to the latter half of the file, including the 192nd burst which he felt the need to change from 'cheatable' to pitch-relevant and almost unhittable. yes, he insisted that all the indistinguishable squelch noises be *pitch-relevant.* idk what went through his head most of the time, but he was a much better step-artist than me at the time so i kinda went with it :\

I tend to be most proud of whatever my most recent file was, because it's usually a distinct advancement of my style. this isn't always the case and it changes frequently, however. right now it's super soaker, which after a thousand playtest/scoring runs i still find delightfully strange. aside from that, i still have a lot of fondness for cockpit and valkyrja, since they're the closest i've come to a polished, accessible file that still has my distinct brand on it.

as for life philosophy, that's a doozy i could probably write a good bit about. i'll get back to ya on that soon.

okay slightly drunk at this point but THERE ARE QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED

i'm ashamed to say i haven't really played your more recent files. from what you were putting out in the Torrent era i imagine what you've done lately is pretty spectacular, since comfort betrays and that b1020i4910890187 shrapnel file somehow made songs i hated into something playable (a rare feat). though iirc one of your ffr submissions was pretty lackluster despite good steps, song's fault for sure

stepmania question #2: have you tried playing stepmania on a different computer? if so, were scores notably worse/better?
i've played on lots. between my own and my friends' computers and also leonid's and staiain's, i've only been able to play well on mine, at least for accuracy (cb's are largely unaffected). it takes a good deal of time to acclimate to a new tactile and aesthetic feel, which i imagine is why so many folks still use whatever outdated ass version of stepmania they still do

non stepmania question #1: what was your worst experience with durgs?
my worst experiences with drugs invariably concern alcohol. i don't like the way i behave when i'm drunk and i don't particularly enjoy myself, but i do it regularly because it's a staple of my social life/core group of friends. once i made out with an old crush while i was dating another girl, and that memory never left me. my family has a lousy history with alcoholism and lasciviousness which i've always striven to avoid. with my current girlfriend i've never cheated, but i have come close once or twice and that was more than enough to establish some firm limitations (five drinks max in a night, once a week). i also have a bad tendency to cope with spontaneous life traumas by drinking heavily--like i am tonight!--but i hope to curb that habit soon.

non stepmania question #2: have you ever had a life-changing experience with drugs?
oh, yes. apart from weed and alcohol (sadly, the most socially acceptable forms of inebriation) i enjoy recreation drug use quite a lot. i could name a quite a few life-changers, but for now i'll stick with two:

-shrooms in my shitty little hostel in Amsterdam with my roommate/best friend; we listened to Surf's Up about six times on repeat as i explained the beach boys to him and we laughed at what a shitty town central Amsterdam is. some of the most fun i've had in a crappy locale.

-it was the night before a flight to visit family in Ohio for three weeks; my girlfriend and i dropped acid, first time for both of us. it was fuccen beautiful. i went into it with the mindset of *research* (there is a scene in my novel-in-progress in which two characters Get It On while on lsd, and i wanted to experience i first-hand before i wrote it). my girlfriend is synesthetic, which made the whole experience something else entirely. we stayed up all night talking and going on walks and having sex and it was basically the best thing i've ever done.

non stepmania question #3 (to break the monotony of the other two): what's your favorite cereal
honey bunches of oats hands down

there are myriad skillsets to consider in a ranking like this (speed, accuracy, consistency, and a hundred more specialized skills), which makes 'top five' a tricky subject. if i had to rank my personal top five, based on whose scores astound me most frequently with regard to skillsets i can appreciate, it would be something like this:

                        -Staiain
                        -Dossar
                        -leonid
                        -Mina
                        -AlexDest

with an honorable mention to Isaac, OldCartoon, samurai and myself
