    dBu - Plastic Mind Question

Hello, sorry if this thread comes off as slightly pointless, but I'm merely checking information I've found, and as I do intend to chart the song, I'd like to be sure I'm using the correct song file both for the purposes of the chart, and because I'd like to not mess up anything with permission issues.

I've come across two separate MP3s for the song, there's the one Zag stepped in PPP, and then there's the one I've listened to a ton of times. But the one that Zag used is much better for charting purposes (my intent is to chart it for FFR.)

The question arises because a youtube video and Zag have both labeled the song as dBu's work, yet the Touhou wiki has labeled it in another way so I'd like to confirm that the Zag MP3 is in fact a dBu version of it which means we have permission to step it.

This is the audio difference between the two versions:

The one I am accustomed to:

The one Zag stepped in PPP:

    The Wiki I've referenced: http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Floatia_2

I'm well aware wikis are able to edited by others, but this is really just be covering my bases, as it greatly affects how you'd approach charting this song entirely and it is a permission issue if it's not the correct artist.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Dobu Usagi is dBu's actual name iirc. It's the same person, so we have permission.

only bother making a chart for it if it's better than zaghurim's

I think they were just different renders of the song. same deal basically though.

          Alright thank you very much.

I highly doubt I can out do him to be completely honest, I feel that's really unrealistic. I'm trying to keep it similar to his which was kind of the purpose of using the same MP3. Don't really think you're gonna be able to compare the FFR rendition against his because his has holds and an FFR rendition can't have them though. It's still going to be very jumpstreamy. But my note placement is hopefully very different, and hopefully better. I'm also not cutting it at all like he did. We'll see how it turns out I suppose.

I'm pretty sure one of the versions has live guitar and stuff. It sounds worse than the sampled version though.

And yes, dBu music is Dobu Usagi's circle name AFAIK.

What I wanted to say was, you really ought to cut it. More than I did. I still like my old file, but it ended up not getting played all that much - even I stopped playing it after a while - because it was just too repetitive. The song has a really limited number of segments that it repeats on and off, so keeping it short is definitely going to work in your favor.

dbu = dobu usagi, so yeah, it's all good. We're just more accustomed to using dbu music.

Also, touhou wikia isn't the best wiki (especially after the drama between the admins), best to use the other wiki

I just might have to then I suppose. But I still play the chart about every time I play SM. I'm sure people just got over concerned with dumpier crap charts.
