    Tenpai Sempai

Made this after getting home from work today. Worked on it non-stop for about 4-5 hours after Detrimentalist said Tenpai Sempai and I jumped on the opportunity to make a song just because of the clever name. This is a rough recording so the noise channel might be a bit of an earrape at times.

    Re: Tenpai Sempai

how do you make the talky noises? I mean I know they're pitch bends, but what was the 'process' you used to figure out what would sound good?

also, are your bass kicks triangle wave pitch slides? in famitracker I use B-3 to B-2 triangle slides atm, was wondering what other ways there are

also I just noticed lsdj can do stereo sound, hmm that's one thing I will never be able to mimic in famitracker lol

o rite the song. the song is good hehe

my bass kicks are triangle wave pitch slides yes, with higher volume for a nice punch with a clubby feel. I usually use square wave though since it's louder. The one thing famitracker has over lsdj is expansions and a dcpm channel which allows 5+ channels rather than lsdj's strict 4. you can connect gameboys for 8 but it's a bit of a hassle.

the talky noises is the same way chibi-tech does it on famitracker, and that's pitch bends with intermittent pulse changes (from 25% to 75%). It takes a little while to get down the way you want it lol.

what pitches do you start end on depending on what kind of kick you want?

swapping from 25% to 75% and vice versa does something? they sound the same to me

you also need to fix the enveloppe on the instruments so that it's not a constant sound and is more fluent like a voice. just play around with it.

in lsdj I start with C8/C7 and run a table with pitch bend down and kill the sound 3/4 way through
