Star Wars: The Old Republic Free to 15

Star Wars: The Old Republic has opened its first 15 levels of content totally free without a time restriction.

I've been interested in this game simply because I love Bioware and I love story-thick RPGs... the MMO aspect doesn't excite me but it's not a turnoff either. However I wasn't really willing to get into it until now.
Anyway, one 25 gig installation later (holyfuc voice acting = huge files) and I have to say, watching the intro cinematic alone was more enjoyable than my 2 years playing WoW. Take that for whatever you think it's worth...

Anyone else going to give this game a fair shot now that the first 15 levels are wide open?

Nope, I've heard nothing but negative things about TOR (fanboys excluded).
Although to be fair, people have said that leveling alts is the best part of the game, since end-game is almost non-existent.

I'll stick with Rift, an xpac is coming out late this year ;D

I jizz'd over this the moment it was announced. And I can't even run it. :/

i really liked it but I knew they were going to nerf my class to the ground and they did so I quit before I became overpowered, was 32 smuggler, they got OP at 36.

Mostly I'd have to question when those 2 years of WoW happened. As far as SWToR is concerned, I've heard nothing about it. Played the beta once, and it felt more like I was just playing another Bioware RPG, not a MMORPG. Would rather just play one of their other single player titles, if I wanted that. I mean KotoR was pretty badass, as was Jade Empire, Dragon Age (1 > 2 by far) and the ME series. And none of those come with monthlies.

Bumping this because SW:TOR is where I've been for the past few weeks.
I subscribed right after hitting 15 from my free time and I've been having a blast in this game. Found a nice social guild and yeah.

                Verdict:
Yes the endgame is very grindy and not fun.

                BUT
Think of the leveling experience as 8 Bioware RPGs for the price of one. With a complementary MMO at the end if you'd like to keep playing.

I can 100% confirm that the story-telling is Mass Effect-level good, and the combat, while very standard MMO fare, is still rewarding and responsive.
So far I have leveled 2 characters to 50 and working on the other 6 classes, and I have yet to be disappointed by the stories or find anyone who was. One of my guildies summed it up pretty nicely: "even Jedi Councilar story, which was the weakest, was still better storytelling than any other game not made by Bioware"
The game ties up a lot of loose ends from KOTOR and KOTOR 2, ties in perfectly with existing Star Wars lore, and has an overall great feel.

The Imperial side gets to kill him in a 4-man leveling instance and he just disappears in a flash of light.
Republic players barely even get to see him.
Really disappointing but I have a feeling it was a "just a setback" kind of thing and he'll return full force in a 8/16 player Operation in the future. At least I hope.

The dialogue is incredibly extensive and makes the game perfect for roleplayers- even I am starting to identify and "roleplay" with one of my characters even though that's usually not my thing haha

Seriously, play this MMO for the leveling experience and then unsubscribe if you don't like the endgame.

At any rate, the game is going Free-to-play soon, so maybe wait until then if you don't want to pay.

Otherwise, roll Empire on The Fatman server (lolservername) and hit me up, my main is Imperial Agent named Ciah (as usual)
