    Dossar's Video Game Tournament

Welcome to Dossar's Video Game Tournament.

Team Indeed Captain Dossar presents to you another custom themed tourament, this time focused on Video Games! (You do not need to be in Team Indeed to participate in this tournament) This tournament features video games that may make you nostalgia. All players of all skill levels are welcome, and it will be based off of raw scoring.

    Submitting Scores

Scores will be based off raw score (the scoring system that does not take combo into consideration). This means you get 50 points for a perfect, 25 for a good, 5 for an average, -10 for a miss, and -5 for a boo.

You can update your scores at any time before the round ends. Be sure to make a new post and not edit an old one since it saves a lot of time and frustration.

All submitted scores must be in picture form, and include the entire perfect/great/average/miss/boo count, and the server details/FFR info that can be found on the top-right corner of the FFR site. Make sure the score is from the current round.

This is an example of an acceptable screenshot from the velocity engine.

An acceptable screenshot from the legacy engine should also include the details and entire score.

Another way of score submission is registering on the Indeed site and logging in and registering scores from the engine, but this requires you to inform me of your username. It is not mandatory. Nobody here is forced to sign up.

    Signups/Divisions/Eliminations

Your placement will be based on how you do on harder files as well as your AAA ability. There will be 3 divisions with two subdivisions (B being the lower flight, and A being the higher flight). You can sign up at any point until the end of the first round. Feel free to suggest over which division you should be in, but I won't necessarily put you there.

Complaining about division placement in this thread will not be tolerated. If you are iffy about a division placement, you can PM me about it or discuss over AIM (my AIM screenname is reborndossar).

There are no elimination rounds in this tournament. Failing to submit will not result in elimination, but will definitely make a big impact on the prize achieved and the fun/competition factor.

    Starting Time

Round 1 is planned to start on Friday, April 13th 2012 at 10:00 PM Server Time, but signups will be open until the end of Round 1. There will be 6 rounds, each lasting three days. Hopefully that will be enough time for everyone to be able to get scores in.

    Other Rules

    1. No cheating. For instance, don't try to fake scores, don't hide your skills to get put in a way worse division, and don't have a more skilled friend get scores for you. Don't boo glitch, DS (Double Setup), or overlay.

    2. Don't publicly complain about what divisions people are placed in. If you publicly complain about your own placement, you WILL be moved up. PM or IM me about it.

    3. I have the right to change a score, choose not to accept a score, disqualify a player, and so on. If I do this and don't provide a reason, you are free to ask me for one; it might just be a mistake.

    Prizes/Donations

Credit distribution will be determined at the end of the tournament. Donations are also welcome and greatly appreciated. Make sure to let me know if you send a donation in and I'll mention you here.

If your name is not in the participant list, you dropped out or got eliminated from lack of submissions.

Below is a list of usernames I have that are registered on the Indeed Engine site. I will try to update this as much as possible.

The left is the FFR username, and the right is the username registered on the Indeed Engine site. Tell me if any of these aren't your username.

Three question marks/Red means that I was not able to find your username in the list of registered members. (?)/Orange means that I'm not 100% sure if it is your registered username.

This is the list from my Hip Hop Tournament thread, so being on this list does not mean you're participating in the tournament, it just means I'm aware of your username on Indeed.

      Tournament Spreadsheet Information

The winners will be determined by tournament points (how well you do on individual rounds).

Spreadsheet names go by the username you use on FFR.

A box highlighted in orange means the score was NOT submitted on time (if you get an appropriate extension, your box will not be highlighted in orange for the round).

Late scores get 5 goods worth of raw score deducted for each day late. This is equivalent to removing 125 from your raw score.

If the numbers are in green, that means an AAA.

Red names mean players who have been eliminated for something other than lack of submissions, or voluntary requesting to be removed from the tournament.

      The tournament is over.

      Jazz Jackrabbit

      From Jazz Jackrabbit Wiki:

Jazz Jackrabbit is a platform game developed by Epic MegaGames, now known as Epic Games. The series debuted on the PC in 1994 with Jazz Jackrabbit.
It's basically a 2D side-scrolling shooter where you control jackrabbits. In the first one, you controlled Jazz (the green one with the blue gun). In Jack Jackrabbit 2, you could play as Spaz (the red guy with the green gun), Jazz, or Lori (the female yellow jackrabbit). Jazz Jackrabbit 3 was a failed project that attempted to make the game in 3D.

I remember playing Jazz Jackrabbit 2 with my brother when I was very little. The D1 and D2 songs were the background music for two of the three levels in the "Shareware Demo" of Jazz Jackrabbit 2. Hearing this game music certainly makes me nostalgia, haha.

You can find more info from these sites if you're interested in looking for more information about the game:
      - http://jazz2panther.wikia.com/wiki/J...krabbit_2_Wiki
      - http://www.jazz2online.com/

      Song information:
      - The Theme Song used this round is the one from Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It is very similar to the title theme in the first Jazz Jackrabbit.
      - The original Diamondus was in the first Jazz Jackrabbit. The Diamondus track used this round is a remix of it, from Jazz Jackrabbit 2.
      - All songs used this round are from Jazz Jackrabbit 2.

      Mario

      From Mario Wiki:

The Mario series is a long-running video game series published by the popular gaming company, Nintendo. The Mario series has been running for more than a quarter of a century, and in its lifespan has released more than two hundred video games. The series also holds the title of best-selling video game franchise in history, with over 262 million combined units sold.

The series started out in 1981, with the arcade video game, Donkey Kong, and has since then took off into its own huge franchise. Originally created by Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario, going under the name Jumpman when Donkey Kong was first released, is the main protagonist throughout most of the series; the main antagonist of the series is Bowser, the King of all Koopas. The Mario series has contained many different genres of games, from platformers to role-playing games, and from puzzle games to party games. The most popular games in the series are a part of what is known as the main series, or the Super Mario series, which consists of 2D and 3D platformers; at least one is released per home console and one per handheld (bar the Game Boy Advance). Even though several games are released, not all of them are available in all countries or on all platforms. Some are only available on certain platforms in certain countries as well.
I don't think there's any of you that don't know about the Mario series. I never really cared about it that much and didn't play it in my childhood, but it certainly is big for any Nintendo fan out there.

Mario Wiki has more information about the series, what games have been sold/made, etc.

      Song information:
      - D1's hardcore remix song probably has a name, but as of now I still don't know of any song title.
      - D2's song is from Super Mario Galaxy.
      - Monstrous Turtles is on 1.2 rate, restepped by me and qqwref. Monstrous Turtles is a remix of the Sub Castle background music from Super Mario World.

      Kirby

      From Kirby Wiki:

The Kirby series is a series of Kirby games created by Masahiro Sakurai and developed by the HAL Laboratory. It is one of Nintendo's most popular and best-selling franchises, selling over 50 million units since its debut. The series is known for its bright and artistic setting, cute characters, cheerful upbeat music, and the ability to inhale an enemy.
To be honest, I never really played the Kirby games at all, but I do remember Kirby from Super Smash Bros a while back. What I remember most is the "Victorymanias" melody from Sky High, lmfao.

A couple of sites you can check out for more information about Kirby:

      Song information:
      - Victorymanias on the tournament engine comes from a sample in Billy Herrington's Dreamland (viewer discretion advised), which used the melody from Sky High.
      - D3's song is the theme to the final boss of Kirby's Adventure, Nightmare Wizard.

      Bomberman

      From Bomberman Wiki:

Bomberman is a strategic, maze-based computer and video game franchise originally developed by Hudson Soft. The original game was published in 1983 and new games in the series are still being published to this day. Today, Bomberman is featured in over 60 different games. Being commercially successful, with over 10 million units of games sold, the series "has since become known as the first name in multiplayer games".

Occasionally, Bomberman games feature the grid-base action. Players are put in a stage where they have to destroy soft blocks, possibly uncovering items. New items have been created for different games, while some have been a permanent power-up. Items may be necessary to defeat opponents. When one is bombed, the player is "dead".
Atomic Bomberman was the game I played in my childhood, even though it's only one game out of the entire series. That one was released in 1997. The gameplay is pretty fast, and is apparently much faster than previous Bomberman games. I loved the music that played during the levels.

Bomberman Wiki has some nice information regarding Bomberman games released and other things about Bomberman.

      Song information:
      - All songs used this round are from Atomic Bomberman.

      Mega Man

      From Wikipedia:

Though all Mega Man games feature unique stories, settings, and characters, they nevertheless share several common features that have made the series one of the most consistent in video game history. All main Mega Man games released prior to 1997 are side scrolling with 2D platforming levels. The player character is Mega Man, who must fight through the levels using some variation of the "Mega Buster"—a cannon attached to his arm—to shoot the robotic enemies inhabiting his environment. When Mega Man was released in 1987, the characteristic that made it revolutionary was the choice given to the player of which robot master to attempt first. After defeating a Robot Master—the boss of a level—Mega Man gains the ability to use that Robot Master's special weapon. Each Robot Master is representative of a specific element or object, with such bosses as Fire Man, Ice Man, Stone Man, and Napalm Man. The weapons Mega Man gains share the theme of the defeated boss. After defeating all of the Robot Masters, Mega Man travels to a multi-stage fortress to confront Dr. Wily, the person responsible for the robotic enemies' destructive acts. In the fortress, Mega Man fights past new bosses, clones of the game's Robot Masters, and Wily, who is usually in a large multi-phase war machine.
I myself never got into megaman but I've seen funny videos on youtube about people raging about megaman, haha.

For more information on Mega Man, you can check out Mega Man Wiki and Wikipedia.

      Song information:
      - Blaze Heatnix is from Mega Man X6.
      - Wily Machine is from Mega Man 9.

      Touhou

Here, master artist alphes presents his most popular work of art yet: "A Hillbilly, a Maid, and a Muslim". This made his popularity skyrocket with his unorthodox shading methods and diverse range of cultures. He's also even going against the franchise he's working for! This is surely not something you see every day.

Prima: I have no idea how alphes shades this shit

Secunda: I sure as hell don't understand very well

Prima: It's not like it's just limited to hot girls. You even saw that badass dragon, turtle, and robot

Prima: Alphes = best art, wasted on assholes

Secunda: LOL yup I am not giving up yet though

Secunda: trying to see why the shading goes there, been doing a lot of research about shading but it doesnt help much. the thing is with alphes it is TOTALLY different like wtf

Secunda: it's like "do this, this and that and if you did it right, it should look like this!" *fuccen amazing shading*

Prima: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/1403/s18finish.png THIS STEP IS FUCKING IMPORTANT

Prima: AND HE DOESN'T EXPLAIN IT

Secunda: yeah see WTF LOL how the fuck does he expect someone to just do that right out of their ass

      Prima: http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4...ukilineart.png

      BASTARD
      LMFAO
      FUCKKKK

      Secunda: GOD DAMNIT

Secunda: alphes is at a simpler level it terms of drawing but like 10x harder it terms of shading

      Secunda: VERY clean and simple

Prima: Crisp lines, looks simpler and more 2D, and unreal shading

      Secunda: pretty much XD

Secunda: i honestly think that he could not actually shade that in paper, I am sure he is using some type of optimized settings in photoshop that makes it look like that

Secunda: Yeah, I have to agree with that because I have literally tried EVERYTHING but i always fail.

Secunda: OMFG he DOES uses a scanner WOW

Prima: lmfao, oh man, If you continued to try the shading on paper, FUCKING DISASTER

Secunda: indeed im surprised i didnt notice that until now. give me a month and i will definitely have at least something done

      Side Game information

There is no side game for Round One.

Send a private message to me answering these following questions. Each correct answer will give you 100 credits; a total of 500 credits is possible for all correct answers. This is a quick quiz concerning the history of my tournament engine.

      1. What was the very first Difficulty 14 file to come to the Tournament Engine?

      2. What was the very first Difficulty 15 file to come to the Tournament Engine?

      3. How many Brutality Tournaments have there been?

      4. What is the name "MiniMegaTournament" a reference to?

      5. What song has the same exact steps, but two separate files on the Tournament Engine?

      Math Heads (Theatrix)

Theatrix Interactive, although now a defunct company, produced educational computer games. It was founded in 1982 with the ambition to create educational software.

The music from this game makes me very nostalgic. I remember the songs from Math Heads, one of Theatrix's educational computer games that was released in 1996. I whored this game to death when I was a little kid, haha. I learned basic fractions and some neat basic math shortcuts from it and was able to calculate a little faster.

For this side game, play and pass any 5 songs by Theatrix that are on the Indeed or Tournament Engines and post screenshots.

The current Theatrix songs on the Indeed Engine are:
      - Brew Beck Jazz (easy)
      - Dance #1 (easy)
      - El Ton (easy)
      - Everything is OK (hard)
      - Fat Beat #1 (easy)
      - Head Banger (hard)
      - Miami Sound (medium)
      - OK Fellas (medium)

The current Theatrix songs on the Tournament Engine are:
      - Close As You'll Get (easy, but use a different noteskin such as metal for the white notes to become visible)
      - Hip Hop #1 (Pow) (hard)
      - Steppin' At Your Own Pace (easy)
      - There's Got to be a Better Way (easy)

Play and pass any 5 of these above songs, post proper screenshots, and you will get 1000 credits.

      Fallout

      From Fallout Wiki:

Fallout is a series of computer role-playing games originally produced and published by Interplay. Although set in and after the 22nd century, its story and artwork are heavily influenced by the post-World War II nuclear paranoia of the 1950s. The series is lightly based on the Mad Max film series. The series is sometimes considered to be an unofficial sequel to Wasteland, but it could not use that title as Electronic Arts held the rights to it. In particular, Brian Fargo, one of the original developers of Wasteland, is noted in the intros of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, with the caption "Brian Fargo presents", despite him not actually working on any of the games. Even though the Fallout series contains many references to items, persons, and scenarios found in Wasteland, the games are set in separate universes and are distinct from one another.
There have been four full role-playing titles in the series (Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas), one squad-based tactical RPG combat spin-off (Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel) and one action RPG dungeon-crawler spin-off for PlayStation 2 and Xbox (Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel). There was also an online MMORPG, Project V13, that was being developed at Interplay. However, after legal disputes, Bethesda removed the rights Interplay had, and the game production was completely halted.
I loved Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Those PC games reminded me of the times I'd be at 10 HP with stimpacks but still not using them and instead loading a lot, rofl. One track that I found unfortunate to be so short is "My Chrysalis Highwayman" from Fallout 2, which really creates a genuine desert atmosphere.

For this side game, you have this song to play.

When you listen, just picture the feeling of the hot sun on your face while roaming the dry wastelands. It just matches so nicely.
The first five players to get a resulting score of 25 perfects and over 1000 averages with zero boos, zero misses, and zero goods will get 2000 credits each.

You must play this file on the Velocity engine.

No hints are allowed. If anyone gives hints on the side game, then this side game will become invalid.

      Zelda

      From Zelda Wiki:

The Legend of Zelda is a high fantasy action-adventure video game series developed and published by Nintendo and created by the famous game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. The gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, puzzle solving, role-playing, and occasional platforming, stealth, and racing elements. The series centers around Link, the sole playable character and hero. Link is often given the task of rescuing Princess Zelda and the most common setting of the series, Hyrule, from Ganondorf who is the primary villain of the series. However other settings and antagonists have appeared throughout the games, with Vaati having become the series' secondary antagonist. The story commonly involves a relic known as the Triforce, a set of three golden triangles of omnipotence. The hero in each game is not always the same iteration of Link, although the same character sometimes appears across multiple games.
The Legend of Zelda series is widely considered one of the most influential video game series in history. The series consists of sixteen official games across multiple platforms as well as several spin-offs. Most games in the series have been met with critical acclaim and commercial success. As of August 2009, The Legend of Zelda series has sold over 52 million copies in total worldwide.
For this side game, you will be playing "Song of Justice". The catch is to get the best score possible in your division, except you have the challenge of a tightened accuracy window!

Your speed modifier should be divided by 2, since it gets doubled in the level. If you use 2.00 normally, use 1.00 here but I do not recommend any lower than .85 because the arrow spawners will start blocking the middle of the gameplay screen.

The prize breakdown will be as follows:
      1st in D1B - 2000
      2nd in D1B - 1000

      1st in D1A - 2000
      2nd in D1A - 1000

      1st in D2B - 2000
      2nd in D2B - 1000

      1st in D2A - 2000
      2nd in D2A - 1000

      1st in D3B - 2000
      2nd in D3B - 1000

      1st in D3A - 2000
      2nd in D3A - 1000

      Total: 18,000

Have fun with this side game!

      Dance Dance Revolution

I don't need to do a writeup for you guys to figure out that FFR's name was basically taken after DDR.

For this side game, you will be playing "The Legend of MAX". The catch is to get the best score possible in your division, except you'll have to go through an unorthodox way of playing.

You must play this file on the Velocity engine.

The prize breakdown will be as follows:
      1st in D1B - 2000
      2nd in D1B - 1000

      3rd in D1A - 1000

      1st in D2B - 2000
      2nd in D2B - 1000
      3rd in D2B - 1000

      1st in D2A - 2000
      2nd in D2A - 1000

I should also note that division placements aren't going to be finalized until it gets closer to the start of Round 1.

                  And thanks Jake Ferguson

What are the song ranges going to be? Is it similar to a brutality tournament? I looked through the op but didn't see that
