Charu influenced me a bit back during the realtime multiplayer tournament. That insane Blue Rose score had me like ":O I wanna do that!". Been silently stalking him ever since

Also, Axith and all the D4 rivalry stuff he started was a huge push for me to start getting better. So big thanks to him

Nu0n got me from 1 hand into spread and tried to get me over the painful transition of doing poorly. I used to watch videos of people doing insane things on FFR/SM as well, which helped with sticking to spread.

I'd say one iconic video that pushed me was watching Shash's Destiny video. Was awesome. Until before i stopped playing .. I'd have to say Dossar, Staiain and Samurai's scores pushed me hard to train and get further skill-wise.

Fantasticone pushed me as a player and helped me train hard by coming into my streams and making me plays songs, evidently getting me to a point that i thought was unreachable for me (Such as a Walk it out 95% AA).

Unfortunately playing for so long everyday burned me out and now i no longer find the game enjoyable :/

when it comes to stepping:
everyone who is/was worth their shit(kommi, leonid, mrbob, rog, jx, patashu, gdude, mochers, choof, sg, ducky, hayden, npv, puppet, don, dondon, glove, cetaka, yesssssss, bynary, ilikexd. fission, bmah, gamboy, darkztar, dew, tsuka, iamme, mcgravel, kneegrow, hst, behan, ossa)

Same for me, honestly. Shash's FFR prowess, Baha's Guillaume Tell and zl (later his Disregard and Gigadelic videos), and Thaor's Scarhand blackflag videos absolutely blew me away at the time. Your Reincarnation oni video was also really insane.

Some other people:
Mahjix - Really my first "rival" on FFR
x After Dawn x - Another rival at the time. I introduced him to FFR back when I was D4 and he quickly matched (and surpassed) me in skill. Kinda sad he doesn't play anymore, but he had his reasons.
Team Blaze - I really wasn't very active in the community until I joined the old TB skype chat. Hanging out with them allowed me to take a much more relaxed stance on the game and focus more on contributing to the forums and what not.
top - I wouldn't have gotten into FFR if it wasn't for him so he's automatically the one person who has influenced me the most.

Playing FFR:
In my earlier days of playing, Arch0wl's AAA on Quasar 1.5 was probably the most mind-blowing thing I had seen at the time. The fact that he did that on index and I couldn't even touch that score on spread was one of the things that pushed me to get better. Shashakiro was also inspiring for just generally being amazing at the game and smartdude for that AIM Anthem AAA back when the avmiss glitch was still a thing.

When I came back to FFR in 2012, Halogen was one of my biggest influences. We used to be a lot more evenly matched back in 2008. Four years later, I saw him get a AAA on Jamais Vu and I hadn't even gotten a single FGO AAA yet. It became a goal for me to try and be on the same level as Halogen again. That never happened (and it never will) but I did get a lot better since then.

Stepping:
Kommisar, bmah, hi19, behanjc, jimerax, gundam-dude and moches come to mind. And waaaay back in 2006 when I first released stuff on the Simfile Database (I don't have any of those files anymore, don't ask), some really old simfile artists like Reach, Rebirth and aperson.

fishfishrevolution because his unwillingness to actually play the game inspired me to post on the forums and not ever play FFR.

almost a decade later (9 months-ish and counting) i'm still here, i've played maybe an hour or two of FFR and i've got thousands and thousands of posts. and i cant pass the most basic levels.

I've been rivals with a lot of people who improved way faster than me, but I've always had a slow rate of improvement.

The oldest influences I had were from reptile3141, Adamaja456, FFRGreen, Rushy,

Back in D1-D2 days I was rivals with Duddychuck (before the site crash), Wildfireskunk, magicturbo, Zekramcross, and Panic4Me, along with several others I can't remember.

I've at some point been rivals with Axith, Reuben_Tate, Popsicle_3000, TheSunFan (changed accounts I think), which pretty much all went from D3-D5 in months, and it's taken me years to get to D4 lol

Currently, the list looks more like danceflashrevo, Thunderflip, phantompuppy, and sickufully. Gotta keep a close eye on my competition, but as usual, the people around my skill level improve much more quickly.

I'm like a turtle though, at this rate, I'll be D7 by 2025.

By then though there'll be 9 divisions

Staiain for pushing me back when i was d3.

Wafles, rCaliber and Judge7Dredd for the SMO'ing we shared back when we were equals (both of them skillboosted into infinity and i got stuck lol). The times on SMO will forevs be in my heart <3333

Pre-site crash, ninjafury. He gave me a few tips during my early days concerning playing and improving. Shash's prowess was like none other... He just dominated this game like it was nothing. (Gheez, I wonder how he'd do now if he was still active?)

More recently,...Squid, funnygurl, and preggers gave me some additional playing tips that I've utilized, especially with learning R^3. I'm also influenced by those in higher divisions than myself to do better at this game. Hopefully I can become good enough to move up and be their rival~

Definitely Arch0wl and Hyrogashi. If Arch0wl hadn't constantly provided a source of criticism (or usually just straight up trashing) for my simfiles, I probably would have churned out a lot more trash. Also, back before 4 fingers became the standard they gave me the inspiration to try it, and in the end learn to play every play style.

Add in the fact I disliked Arch for a couple of years and you have most of my motivation for getting better too.

and Funny who I think showed me this game and told me to play it (hi fuNny)

and Ultimega who helped me realize I should set goals (go for fc's and stuff)

and Fantasticone who had me play super hard songs on streams which ended up helping me improve
