I edited a bit my first post explaining my reasoning further

Ofc anyone may do as he pleases about his pack (as I did myself too), it's his decision, not mine, but that doesn't mean I can't complain about it. I'm not even asking him to review the file again or include it in the pack, I don't care, it's been two months and 600 posts since that review; if i really cared about it i would've answered inmediately. I was bored and decided to enter forums after a long while. And as I said I wanted to know what he thought about my comments, no more than that (and yeah I do sound contradictory I know that).

Question.

The file I'm stepping will have the following:

- a 10 key chart

- a BMS file

- a KB7 chart

- a solo chart

- a 4key chart

I've said "you (the community) can remake this file however you need to make it acceptable."

It's obvious that this applies for 4key. Does it apply for solo/kb7/others? (That is, will the solo/kb7/etc charts even matter with respect to acceptance?)

Arch0wl, the pack is mainly a 4k one, so only those charts would be looked at and thus edited. The rest of the charts falls to your own judgement. If they suck, they will remain so. So don't fuck it up.

arch, no, they don't matter in respect to acceptance. i just care about the 4k charts for this pack, it can include any other charts you want.


onto this post...

the main issue with your file is that it only relies on mines to be challenging and never has anything that special happening in it, i have rejected many files for this reason. i gave it purple but if i would've reviewed it today i would have given it red because of the standard of the files in the pack now, in the beginning i couldn't be 100% sure i would receive so many great submissions.

the notes i give in my reviews are of course open for discussion, i have talked to many about them and in the end we reach an agreement and the file gets included. when it's not about errors but about taking a different approach, i usually just accept that the way the author wants it.

now this file won't make it anyway, but here's my response to your notes

i disagree, it's only 170bpm and short bursts, 32nds are not gay. to have them inaccurately as 24ths instead i don't agree with at all. plus, you have other equally as long 32nd bursts in the file


eeeh haha you can't be serious. the bassdrum hits on every 4th, just like in most regular electronic music, not on the 8ths (lol). if you mean the base guitar/baseline then there are many 16ths and 8ths missing, it's not even close.

what you do with the 8ths is that when the melody doesn't hit you have arrows to the hi-hat that is playing on all 8ths, and then when the melody hits you just have a freeze to the melody. you could say that this is your stepping style, but when the melody hits at the same time as the bassdrum on the 4ths you do have jumps so in that case it's very inconsistent. it's would also imo be a bad choice for how to do this section because it's easy and doesn't need arrows inconsistently taken out

how you can tell me to get new headphones with those comments regarding this section is just funny

this part is pretty much what really seals the deal for the file not being good enough for this pack. it's the endinng climax of the song, and it's stepped as the easiest part of the entire file when it could be made a lot cooler. instead of the file becoming more challenging, interesting and memorable it just ends up pretty bland

I'm talking about the bass on the synths (or hihat w/e you want to call it), not the bassdrum ofc, i'm not that stupid, and the reason I did not include the 16ths stepped in that cause, they're a bit lower in sound and i'm focusing my 16ths on the synths already i didn't want to add a layer on top of that just to make the file more confusing. But in my opinion this is kinda subjective. And yeah i do believe bassdrums are more important in the song that's why i layer them as jumps while i do not with the 8ths, again that's how you view things and not how i do. I feel if I include jumps there too it will be completely overlayered to my taste, maybe not to you cause you're looking for more challenging files, but i prefer simplicity over challenging/overlayering.

The points of the 24ths were that ofc bursts are a lot easier that 16ths but well i won't dwell on that.

M33-53 wasn't stepped by me, as you know this is a collab file. In fact I wasn't the one who toned down the 32nds, but well I agreed with it so that's why I spoke about it (example the last 32nd of the last burst in that section)

But oh well I think I'm not commenting anymore anyways, I'm not going to change anything, this is a collab file and probably pat isn't going to try to change anything either. I think we have different views of what a fun file is, and don't get me wrong i like challenging files but I enjoy easy files too. The pack will be probably fun either way. I only think that being the sole judge you're too fixed (IMO) in what is fun for you and what other ppl think it might be fun too.

Honestly, you should just step two difficulties. An easier one that is more expressive and a harder one with heavier layering, more difficult patterns, etc.

EDIT: If you are going to argue that people won't play the easier difficulty when the harder one exists, well, that's just the way it is when it comes to people's taste in files.

good thing I'll be up all night bro. I'll plow through it and send you the file so you can make the heavy chart. . You'll have like ALL the stops and BPM changes done for you :P.
