blue rose not even on my account would get me moved to D6 =[ personally i think my J'ai envie, and magical 8-bit could have put me in D6... i was quite nervous. although ca25nada does have a SDG on KS... that songs an 84...

Hakulyte has an SDG on an 85, but would have been knocked out round 1 on D6 (as I predicted). Again, it's not just about levelranks that push someone -- the actual chart is what does. Breakbeat Acid is just a mess of staggered streaming and doesn't present too much of anything for a file of that difficulty, compared to some other nasty files like RAN, Hero Reconsidering, etc. that have ridiculous sections of brutally fast bursts/jumpstream/etc.

Knew it'd be a long song since last night. Good news for me is I'm 4 0 1 3 right now.

I had sdgs on Storm Raid Battle and My Half prior to the tourney last year and didn't even place in the top 16 in D5 lmao.

The bump is so massive that no single division should account for that skill gap, especially on a 16-man scale.

But it's not like we didn't know going in that certain D5ers were pretty obvious D6 material. A bump at this point would be stupid, but placements could be handled better next year. Like not grouping a guy with a Love & Justice blackflag (no, it's not a "a certain kind of score" unless you mean an unambiguously D6 one) with people whose highest AAA is a 69.

It's kind of stupid to talk about at this point though. Just give ca25nada or DarkZtar the win and place better next time.
My highest AAA before tourney started was a 72, and all my FGO scores are trash, haha. I'm honestly surprising myself this tournament since prior to it I've pretty much played FFR solely has a casual hobby and came into the tourney with the goal of making top 16 =P.

Unrelated note: Gonna keep pushing myself and try for the Crow's Ghost AAA ~=P

Like I said, I doubt anyone will get the AAA this round, it's all just a point for discussion.

Welp, I'm in the situation where even a FC won't touch my raw score. The ONE time I PA so well and I miss a roll that ends with a 124 hand. I actually PA'd the entire line of jacks that run too! I'll mirror it later when I get home, but for now, I wish the rest of D4 good luck raping my score. I know it's gonna happen. =]

There's front-runners, but there's a limit to what you can use that as an excuse for. Putting smartdude in D1 wouldn't make him a "front runner." That's an extreme example, but where do you draw the line? Okay, maybe DarkZtar boosted, fine, but ignoring ratings, Love & Justice is honestly harder than BB Acid by a sizable margin, but you put ca25nada in D5 because according to you that chart emphasizes a certain skill set (dense JS) even though he was an established D6 (when D6 still had current D7s in it) because you'd rather have him obliterate a lower division than be a slight underdog in an appropriate one. And then, not accusing anyone of conspiracy, but wouldn't you know it, D5 is assigned pure dense JS charts in rounds 4 and 5, making his placement even more mystifying. I sure wish entire tournaments would cater to my strengths. If last round was less like EHHS and more like RAN, maybe I'd still be in.

People want a reasonable shot at what they feel like they can get. I'm not complaining about placements because I was eliminated by one boo, that would be missing the point. What you're doing by insisting ca25nada is D5 amounts to plugging your ears and shouting "la la la I can't hear you!" It's not something anyone should get too angry about, I'm fine with him winning, but at the same time, no one is fooled, and this is something that can be fixed for next tournament and so should be pointed out.

That's far from a big assumption and can easily be proven with some other users and their behavior.

I really want people to understand that I'm not here to try and accuse people, but I am rather blunt when it comes to repeating the same thing multiple times -- people should be taking this tournament as a competitive way to improve at the game. Be proud of how you do in the tournament, and be proud of how far others have come.

I won't sit here and say the placements are perfect, but there are some things you simply can't avoid. Look at D1, for example: I thought for sure that people like SC_coolguy, JohnRedWolf, and lilAZNrainy were going to be front-runners/winners, and now we have new competitors to the tournament: SallowKnight and ticonderoga360 are literally just downing these charts like an alcoholic downs shots. It's incredible.

There are people that I regret leaving in their division too -- I defended .Rarity for a while, but it's quite obvious that he's incredibly overpowered compared to other divisional-frontrunners, which is absolutely terrifying. His best AAA now (and his recent/current performance on recent files) has been making me wonder if I should leave him where he is, considering the structure of the tournament and the difficulty of where things will end up in other divisions. I haven't decided yet, and believe me, I don't feel comfortable in either situation. I have a mile of D2 (and D3) players upset about his placement, and I see a user that is very timid and doesn't even know how strong he really is. I want people to understand that Kayla and I aren't trying to be brash towards people because we want you to stop giving your opinion -- we're being brash because people are saying things that aren't fair.

We're only trying to make an enjoyable tournament for those who still play the game, and it's as simple as that. Kayla handles the management/uploading as well as some of the community aspect (song discussion threads) and I handle more technical things like sync/offsets/frame-fixing, etc. I don't care what anyone here thinks of me or my attitude (as in I'm indifferent and don't care if you hate me/like me) when it comes to this; I just care that the tournament is being managed well and that everyone is having a good time competing and trying to stay alive.

                          /long, semi-heartfelt post

EDIT: Mike: people that want a reasonable shot at what they can get will try for it and worry about themselves compared to others, not others compared to themselves. I'm not plugging my ears: you're targeting one particular user over and over again when there are other users that can be moved up as well, and won't. It's really as simple as that.

I don't want anyone to be moved at this point, I'm just saying I don't disagree with rushy and explaining my reasoning for it. I chose the best example because it was the best example. Ca25nada knows I'm not on some kind of mission to screw him over and that he's not going to be moved regardless, and I'm sure pointing out that his dominance is hard to ignore isn't going to hurt his feelings.

it's literally impossible to please everyone with the division placements. each division contains players with a fairly wide range of abilities and skill sets, aside from maybe D7. only one person can win the tournament in each division. everyone else will get "screwed over." that's the way it goes.

I have absolutely no chance of winning D6 unless the next 4 rounds are Jackhammer Madness. guess what? I'm still having fun. just focus on improving.
