Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament ~predictions thread~
You also have a tendency to simply ignore the other argument, as shown in the other thread when Staiain resigned from the tournament.
No more drama in this thread please -- it's supposed to be a predictions thread where we talk about how/who we want people to win, not about how a skillboost should push a person out a division, because it shouldn't. If a person works hard during the tournament to try and win, they shouldn't be bumped up. Salitz was moved up to D5 in this case because he was nearly put in D5 from the start and his scores were so incredibly close to knocking him off the D4 boat (if not good enough to be D5 from the start). When I saw scores that would have kept him perfectly fine in D5 for the current round, the move was obvious.
Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament ~predictions thread~
Oi I just looked in this thread and it's the typical bs with people. I'm tired of this "he got a good score get him out of my division" junk. Really a person shouldn't be moved unless they were grossly misplaced or if it's obvious sandbagging, which the 2nd I'm more likely to just remove the person. So many people have been working their ass off and practicing for this, they're going to skillboost. If you're not taking the time to improve yourself that's your problem not the problem of those actually fighting for it.
It's like with Fluvs who sat there and said he was dead last round with one gameplay on the song and even in the end he still didn't play the file all that much. There are people that have played some of the files upwards of 700 times already this early in the tournament. I also don't want to hear the "so and so has this division in the bag" cause frankly there's a lot of people practicing and pushing themselves hard, so there's no way of knowing who's going to take down what.

I got a skillboost just from getting a new keyboard. Went from average AAA capability level 55-60 to 60-67 in about 2 weeks (which is sort of the difference between D4 and low D5)
I would actually say you're nearly D6 lol, some of your scores lately are a little too good.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament ~predictions thread~
OP is updated.
Who got eliminated in round 2 and how many votes they received ?
Technically, nobody got eliminated, but Staiain and TC_Halogen were removed.
If your name appears in grey, you've still have time to tell me your new pick, but I might refuse if you change too late. (maybe after round 3, but I'll see)
4 RagedBerserker
2 Choofers
0 CZarkou II
0 Gilly G
0 Godnick
0 Lambdadelta
0 Nick Skyline
0 Tarrik
0 ULTIMEGA
Last year D5 finalist RagedBerseker's journey ends here.
HellsRequiem went far last tournament but it ends soon this year.
Untimely Friction got eliminated by an hair. Was one of my pick, pretty good on higher levels.
Also, 17 people voted for Salitz, so their votes have transferred to D5.
And RagedBerserker votes went from 4 to 0 this round!
No big surprises in D3 but I thought Infernalgate_Zach and FFRGreen were pretty solid.
Kudos to Evascythe for being moved up and tried your best. (xVaLoR also!) That means blindreper1179 is now in grey.
ballet dude was my #1 pick this year, he's the only one in D1 to have tier points. That's shame he didn't submit anything.
Time4Fame is also very good but didn't submit... He could have gone far.

If any D1-D3 player invests a decent amount of time in playing SM, they're going to reach D4-D6 level at a much more rapid pace than those who don't. As seeing many D1-D3 players don't really bother with SM, I'm really not surprised.
What packs would you suggest to start off training in SM? I downloaded a bunch, but everything was too hard haha.

Some of the tougher pad packs might be worth your time -- look into things like Mad Matt's Tachyon series (Tachyon Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc) that will provide you very fast streams without overloading you with extreme amounts of jumps, which will train your eyes to get used to heavier densities. Tachyon packs past Beta guarantee streams of 225+ 16ths (or equivalents) whenever they appear.
ArchiVeflax's Pendulum pack is great for D2/D3 players looking to improve their streaming capabilities, since a lot of the songs have 173-176 BPM 16th streams.
