Stop acting like you speak for every player. You don't. Not even going to respond to the rest of your post because it isn't worth my time.

if he wants to emulate the expected density on a given file, he can't do so on FFR due to FFR's considerably smaller screen size. R^2 doesn't help, because it too falls short when comparing noteskin size vs. distance of travel.
This is the biggest crux for my FFR game bar none. It takes quite a bit of playing to get accustomed to reading in such a short window. This forces you to think patterns are more dense and thus faster than they really are and rushing becomes much easier since you need to process slightly larger and more dense groupings of notes. I can only imagine this problem being even greater for Staiain since he reads at very fast speed mods.
As for his RATO score, that is more an example of his superb speed and hardly demonstrates accuracy. The reason why everyone is terrified of Staiain mastering FFR in actuality is because he would probably SDG RATO. There are other reasons of course, he would probably assert that attention problems prevent him from AAAing many files even in SM so this would further explain why AAA-or lose files in FFR don't cater to his skill sets
If everyone at 2-0-0-0 in D4 agrees to play nice and not improve, you'll all make it through no problem. Assuming of course, that you trust each other. I'm sure nobody will stab the group in the back in the dying minutes of the round in attempt to knock a few names into the peepee water. Nope, that would NEVER happen...

Well, Popsicle won every award this year so it was canceled.
Anyway, I played SM for 4 years straight before actually playing FFR seriously and it took less than an hour to adjust to the frames in FFR so I'm aware there's a little bit of a difference...keyword "little." Also the fact that he achieved rank 2 on RATO means that he was in fact able to read and PA the song exceptionally well. Skill like that isn't just lost....sure if he takes a break from FFR but continues playing stepmania, there will be that little adjustment to make but the fact that he's playing ridiculous SM songs to maintain his skill, his FFR skills (that he proved he had) should take minimal time to get back (a day at most). The ONLY thing that would make sense is if he got that score years ago and stopped playing every possible rhythm game altogether for years then came back rusty as hell (which doesn't sound like the case because you tell me he plays a lot of hard SM files). You can bash me all you want but your argument just doesn't make sense..."He can AAA 300+ BPM files but can't adjust to FFR" (which he has an incredible score on) Something just isn't right with that picture...
Staiain has played Stepmania for many years. He has never played FFR enough to be accustomed to the frame-timing it has, compared to Stepmania's window-timing. Transferring one of those over to the other shows the major difference in timing.
Not only that, in Stepmania, you can use chord cohesion.
Originally posted by Patashu's Stepmania Terminology Thread
Chord cohesion, chord cheating: In Stepmania and Thirdstyle, chords are scored only when their last note is hit, and are visually cohesive: they are either all hit or all missed. This mimics the way DDR handles 'jumps' but is contrary to the way almost every other rhythm game works.
This has a side effect of making extra taps 'unpenalized' so long as the last note of the chord is hit on time. Imagine a pattern [1234]11[1234]: You can hit [1234] four times in a row, as the extra 234s do not trigger early judgements, and the final 1 completes the chord on time.
If you were to do this on FFR, you'd get boos from the extra hits in result. At least in exchange you get to manipulate very dissonant patterns (or as simple as a 32nd roll at 200bpm being hit as 16th jumptrills) due to FFR's lenient frame-timing. Plus, guru players having to go for an AAA on pretty much everything in FFR (as Dynamo said) makes certain patterns appear much denser to hit when they really shouldn't be (e.g. Rave7, Husigi Usagi Milk Tei, do i smile?).

Second: a lot of people that have trouble with SM after playing FFR have issues for various reasons. The loss of framerate, the smaller window space, the lack of perspectives, and more. People who lose accuracy on SM are the ones that read the playfield on a relative level to obtain their most accurate scores, and that is most certainly not an excuse. Those people who view the arrows in relativity to the receptors typically have better reading ability on SM than most, but this skill gets thrown out of the window with FFR's inconsistencies due to frame-based timing.

Just posting to say that Dynamo and AJ's posts are the reason why my and probably most of the other SM players' skill at SM couldn't be fully translated to FFR skill. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but I think there's probably an issue if I couldn't come close to AAA-ing files such as Extratone Pirates and I could AAA it on command on SM.
I usually have to use a speedmod that I could at least read most of the notes half of the screen (which is why I play fullscreen on SM) and since FFR's receptors would be too big if I maximize the window and the window is too small to begin with, it would cause a lot of issues in reading.
I'm basically forced to use a lower speed mod to read things right, but it takes a major hit to my PA because I tend to rush several patterns too much or go too slow because I have no idea how fast it is due to how difficult it is to read files with a lower speed mod/smaller window. There's the lack of chord cohesion as well and frame misplacements, which makes files even worse for us SM players to time since we're so used to "perfect" frames.
Just saying this because it really pisses me off when people kept telling me to do better on a file because I can do it on SM, it just doesn't work that way for most Stepmania players.
