tbh, I don't really appreciate deliberate delays

especially this batch, since I have to let jx handle the work instead...getting notes in by yesterday would've been ideal however since in that case I could handle the notes

I was being a smartass, if you remember I said I was busy with the stuff from the meet up and working on getting an apt, plus just having everyday mommy duties. AJ works 40 hours a week now too. We don't have as much time to work straight on this stuff. And I'm sure JX can handle putting up notes just fine.

1 there's a deadline and we're going to make that deadline so there's no issue. 2 we never know when the batches are going to be opened up and it just so happened to get dropped on us in the middle of the meet up. Unless we aren't meeting the dealines there's no reason for complaints.

I'm about 10 seconds from locking this thread in the same manner that Tass locked up the previous batch thread. Stop arguing about notes being late before the deadline -- people should be grateful that notes are being done as quick as they are.

There's already a protocol with how things are done - if someone doesn't finish in the time allotted, then you bring out the backup judges. I don't understand why this has to be repeated hundreds of times to people who have slight time constraints. Just because you have time to sit around every day of the week doesn't mean everyone else does, and just because we have things to do on a daily basis doesn't mean we're ineligible for judging.

It's also hilarious that users are allowed to joke around about how we're taking forever, but when the judges play around and say they're going to "torture the users" by waiting, we get yelled at.

Enough is enough.

EDIT: I'm going to sit down, and spend the rest of my time of this day finishing my notes.

Unrelated question: is it possible to have an .sm file be required for notes too, so that us DDream users don't have to open SM to save an opened a .dwi file for a .sm file to generate?

If you don't want to read people arguing about notes being late, you probably shouldn't read every post in the batch topic. I see no reason to deprive people of reasonable batch discussion just because you're annoyed that a couple of users are impatient. Besides, it feels a bit like abuse of power to be closing a thread just because the posts annoy you.

I kind of feel like judges have more power/authority than regular users (at least in terms of the batch), so they have more of a responsibility, and a little more is expected of them morally. When regular users joke at the expense of a judge it's a bit mean, but when judges joke at the expense of a whole group of regular users it feels more malicious.

Good idea, although IMO it should be part of the responsibility of the batch organizer to do stuff like this.

Saying lol and nothing else in a batch thread is a complete waste of space and adds something unnecessary for people reading the thread and keeping track of it. That's why I deleted your above post too.

You have to understand something here - I'm not upset at the fact that people are wanting the batch notes done as soon as possible. In fact, part of me really wishes that I had finished it all in one shot when I did the first 10 files of the batch, but I got caught at Subconsciousness because it didn't have a .sm file (ALL YOUR FAULT LEONID). The thing that's getting on my nerves, is that people are complaining about the deadline when it's been set in stone for weeks now.

Imagine being at school/work and you're working on a project, and you find out that everyone is finished. Do you think it's fair for people to be hounding you down when you have a set deadline for when it's due? There's nothing wrong with being an over-achiever and finishing early, but rushing others for something like that when there's a set date seems incredibly impatient and rude to me.

It's not a reasonable batch discussion when other judges are sitting there, inquiring as to why we're doing the batch because of slight time constraints. As I said before, it's not fair to ask why we're doing the batches on time constraints because we weren't aware of these things coming up the way they did. Kayla and I planned the East Coast FFR meet-up, have been apartment hunting, and my work hours got throttled upward. None of this was happening when the batch had started, which is why it's incredibly frustrating to see impatient posts asking why the batch notes aren't up yet.

Well, this goes back to there being a set deadline. Those who send in content should be expected to wait until the expected date because there's no guarantee that judges will send in notes early, due to pending situations. I'm the perfect example of this - my first three (four?) batches on the team, I was the first judge to send notes in (and I'm typically very detailed in my notes, too).

I guess JX adding .sm files to the batch wouldn't be so bad, but it seems like he's on a pretty decent time constraint in his own right.

PS: I am well aware of the stress and the responsibility that comes with being a judge, and respect that. Just the way you choose your words about the situation at hand, namely the severe impatience of users, seems a little unprofessional at times. Just be the bigger man -- or something like that...
Threatening users to use your power is NEVER a good move, seeing as an autocracy on a Rhythm Flash-game Community is not an efficient system, whatsoever.

Otherwise, keep up the great work.

Edit: I also believe most people are just joking about the process of judging and the speed thereof. No one can be that impatient... right?

In any event, I'm still going along with my batch notes. Taking a break to tend to the baby - stopped at Rapids (which is 13 out of however many I have plus 1 that Silvuh passed to me minus 1 that I passed to...whoever, lol).

EDIT: also, I was only threatening to close the batch thread because nothing productive was coming from it and everyone posting the way they were was just asking for a storm of crap
