Because most rhythms games feature notes that scroll downward; only a handful go upwards, DDR being one of them. To call it reverse would be a technical misnomer especially for solo, since games that use 6k+ tend to scroll downwards. IIRC, DMX (no longer continued), PPP, GuitarFreaks and DrumMania are the only Bemani games other than DDR that use upscroll. IIDX, GH, RB, DJMAX, O2, Pop'n, etc. all generally scroll downwards.Originally posted by 0

so I flung open stepmania and played it a bit between other things (= a tiny bit distracted). decided to see if I can AA some xiao 1 onis now. looks like I can:
