on a different note, I've been trying to master some advanced tactics on IaMP lately, such as combos or bomb stuff and whatnot. here's the problem. I know what I'm supposed to do (hell for some of the combos I even know what frames to do different things on) but I can never execute them. which is stupid. what am I doing wrong? why am I good at rhythm games but I can't play fighting games for the life of me? ;_;

lol i can't execute nothing i just rapidly press the arrow keys for the attacks it works fine
i hate yiko or yuyuko or whoever's 2ed spell card on lunatic mode i get hit whatever i do after i die i even get hit before the match starts and when i get pass that any otherthing a git hit by i die and have to start all over

Because unlike a rhythm game, sometimes if your timing is off by even .1 second, you have to catch up the .1 second to execute the combo. As for a rhythm game, if you're off that .1 second, you don't really catch up, but move on. Or your timing is off a metronome, but most combos don't go off by a metronome's tick.
Which combo(s) are you trying to perform? Looking at your stats, I'm guessing it's Remilia's 6D.B combo.
Combo execution and accuracy takes a lot of time and practice. It's not as simple as learning the key combinations and then being able to execute them on your first try. You need the perfect timing.
I remember when I couldn't do any combos with Yuyu, rofl. Then after like a week or so I started spamming 412 combos everywhere (and I still do, rofl).
IaMPwiki is a good reference for the comboing basics but it's better to learn and master your own combos. But this could also lead to bad habits.

I, for one have several bad habits with Yuyuko which pretty much leaves openings for Xiao to wreck my ****.

Learn it step by step, then piece each step together sequentially. I only really know Youmu combos (I know some with other characters, but not very well), such as:
5B 6B 214A 214A 623B 22C j.BC 4D j.B
I broke it down piece by piece, into:
5B 5B
214A 214A 623B 22C
j.BC
4D j.B
I practised each individually, then just pieced it together. It's easier than just trying to learn the combo from the get go, since you're familiarized with the entire movelist you need for a particular combo

That's Youmu's more common combos. I can see that one easily.
I think stargroup is trying to do this one (After a 6DB or j.B or something that pops the opponent up that isn't like a 22C):
6DB 6DB 6DB 6DB 6A(2hit) 214A...
22C 623B
or
22C hjc.B
Which is a difficult combo to execute because the j.B sometimes tends to connect the second hit, thus ending the combo with a downward smash.
