To answer the OP, I enjoy this site alot and I love playing FFR and Spin it UP. Even tho alot of members (Nyokou, most of TGB) hate everyone that isnt vulgur and breaking the swear filter every two seconds, most of the people who play can be very friendly when you dont tiss them off

You just have to find a group that you like, the site is fairly big and most people form their own little gang of sorts

TGB does suck, full of 4chan reposts and youtube threads. There were a few exceptions to the rule, but very few.

Basically, the less personal a place is, the easier it is to be hostile. When you're driving your car, for example, you're more likely to swear at someone and flip them off than you are while meeting them and having a conversation with them. We don't see each other's faces on the internet. Thus, it's easier to be hostile; it's less personal. Plus, the monotonous semantics issue is here, in that it's easy to take a statement wrongly (much as it's hard to detect internet sarcasm at times compared to IRL sarcasm) It's much easier (and more tempting) to attack a random screenname on the web than it is to be rude to someone's face.

I'm pretty surly.

That said, I'm only "perceived" as hostile because I try to bring people back to reality. As one of the few older members here (and I'm not even old), I kind of feel like I should be as objective and cold as possible when it comes to treating other people. They gotta grow up some time, after all.

The whole high school age "Let's be a jerkass to everyone" complex that seems to plague oh-so-many of our members here gets tiresome, but at the same time, don't be an idiot. We don't need more of those, either.

FFR is amazing.
I've not been a -huge- part of the community until recently. Honestly, I get really sick of the humor/attitude that most of the people on here have. I've been here forever, mostly as a lurker, at least as far as forums go. I like actually playing the game. The community sucks for the most part. About 80% of the community I should go join Go-Gaia since they don't even play, but for the other 20%, its worth hanging around and talking to them.

FFR is hell and heaven, at the same time. It entertains you so much, and it makes you happy until you realize how many thousands of hours you've wasted on tapping buttons on a keyboard repeatedly.
