In the beginning of the semester when I was taking English, we spent a day talking about why people cuss. The reasons are in my notebook, but from what I remember it goes along the lines of:
Very immature Obviously unprofessional Couldn't care less Anger management problems Believes there's no other way to express themselves Under no parental guidance Lost in the world of bad influences Another one thinking it's cool Ready to explode into violence Yet another who needs a dictionary
...I really drive the point home don't I...for someone to cuss...they should fall into some letter there...maybe more than one...
Good point, short message. We curse our tongues on behalf of a lack of power, and need critically to be heard. To avoid using such ghastly slang understanding we all must support one another to pass around the feeling of support, because thats what we, as humans, seem to build our invulnerability on. Secondly, we need to equal ourselves by eliminating the figures that encourage cursing. Thridly, we need to lift up the low through a peppy and positive attitude. Doing so, we will eliminate the "forbidden words" and replace them with a power only God above could offer.

I think cussing in completely pointless...why would you cuss.....its just wasteing ur breathe.....i can only think of a tym to cuss....when ur upset like sad or just plain p-oed but i don't think its okay to cuss just for fun or to sound kool....
I hate when people are all like "hay if u cuss i meens ur stupid lol." It pisses the hell out of me. I have a moderatley extensive vocabulary, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to say "Gee, I sure am peturbed[sp?]" Yeah, I said I had a nice vocabulary, not that my spelling is any good. And don't go off and say "but a thesaurus doesn't count lol silly" I know it doesn't. I don't use it to find my words. I'm not saying I'm some kind of genius scholar, but just because I cuss doesn't mean I'm stupid, illiterate, or anything else. I mean, what kind of everyday situation requires the use of "alligorical." Seriously. I take it as a personal attack when people say those who cus are stupid. It's just not true in all cases. That is a stereotype, you know. Oh no, God forbid you use one of those. Geez, a stereotype? You? Never! Yeah, way to be completely ignorant. And laziness isn't a factor either. Like I've said, I'm not going to go out of my way in an every day situation just to avoid cussing. "Oh shucks, it seems as though this great mass has fallen on my philanges. I am curious as to why thise situation has arised" Screw that. "Fuck, that hurt." And I go on my way. It doesn't make me any stupider.
Ready to explode in violence? That has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard, and I've heard some pretty ignorant things. Goodness me, did he just use ignorant? Yeah, I did. But he just cussed! Doesn't that mean he's stupid and violent? No, stupid. I only get on the offense when I feel I'm being personally attacked. I'm generally not a violent person. I'm past all that junk.
But of course, I have anger management problems. Wrong again. If I'm pissed, I jog. It relieves the tention. Or, I guess I should say "It gits rid o' tha bad stuff lol."
And I can tell you right now, I'm not immature. I won't fret about small stuff like "omg y cant i go to the mall :< grr i hate u *cries*" Doesn't happen. I know how to take care of my buisness, and how to not fret about small things. Of course, you might bounce back with "but this is a small thing." No, not to me it isn't. Like I've said, if I feel I am being personally attacked, I will make it my buisness.
In other words, don't rely on such outdated, stupid, ignorant stereotypes.
I beg the differ. If someone doesn't cuss at all, then you get them angry, and then they bust out with a string of swear words, you know for a fact you touched a nerve. Now, if someone were to cuss periodically, and they cuss at you, it makes no difference. That aside, cussing really does get your point across if you don't normally swear. Not cussing just emphasizes your civility, but it definately doesn't get the point across better than swearing.

Albeit, that is true. However, it also depends on how a person carries their voice across. For example, someone who hasn't cursed at all says such a word quietly, yet if someone who curses regularly says it more forceful than normal, than the normal curser will have a greater effect.
it could be said that, as a part of the human language certain use of syllables and gestures give greater satisfaction than others (example: the gestures used when smoking a cigarette give a greater calming sensation than the cigarette itself, although it would be more difficult to sit still), and such is why we have words such as: f---, sh--, d----, and bas----. Humans are only human and therefore descended from apes, in other words (not that any of this is my opinion, i just like to respond)
I'm going to use a comparison from my English teacher to my friend.
My English teacher actually meant it when he said "shit eater" because he was referring to a dung beetle.
My friend actually was funny when he said "shit eater" in front of my English teachers face.
There you go, curses are fun for fun, but can be good describing words as well.
swearwords are just an adjective to me and that's it. I just swear because I don't like being redundant with my speech. sometimes I just feel like it. sometimes the word fits. sometimes it sounds better than a different word. either way, all of it has become a natural part of my speech.
Sadly I find that If you cuss often, you are thought to be immature. Cussing prevents people from seeing you as a trustworthy person. But if you dont swear at all people see you ass someone that is hard to communicate with because you dont pepper your sentences with power words. I curse my mtongue occasionally to show others who I really am. It is sin, but dont we all?
