Scenario: Jason Bourne is in his apartment reading the newspaper and sipping tea. Mmmm. Tea.
A silent alarm goes off on his computer. He brings up his hidden cameras that show the stairs leading to his room, the basement of the apartment, the building rooftop as well as opposing rooftops. "Shit, is that an MI6 agent!?" Bourne can tell from the standard issue watch and shoes the man wears. He grabs a glup of tea and immediately grabs his previously prepared bag of "things" in case of such an event. He holsters a Glock and checks that it's loaded as he heads for his hidden escape exit.

James Bond is casually making his way up the stairs, on his way to room 502. He takes a glance at his watch, hoping he can catch his target asleep this early in the morning. He finally makes his way to the door and unlocks the door with his master key. It fails to open. "Ah, a slide bolt." Not wanting to break down the door and make noise, he uses the laser on his watch to cut the bolt in half and the door opens. Jason Bourne is nowhere to be found. Suddenly, he hears a car's wheels screeching from the apartment window and looks out. "Damn! That's his car!" He quickly jumps out the window and fires a cable at the wall and climbs down while calling his automated car.

I really like the first Bourne movie.... The Bourne Identity...

The idea of this man pumped full of instinct, knowledge, determination, discipline and courage being able to fight against a large and powerful branch of the CIA by himself while having lost his memory is amazing.

Bond is cool... but he gets too lucky... and he relies on his gadgets all the time. Laser watch? I don't remember that.

Bourne just seems a lot smarter and capable... and you kinda have to feel sorry for the guy.

OK... My comments (sorry this is so late into discussion... haven't checked Media in a week+). I have read about 5 Bond books (by Ian Flemming), and I have read both Bourne Identidy and Bourne Supremacy (Bond movies follow the books very closely... Bourne books are NOTHING like the movies... completely different).

I've also seen both Bourne movies and every Bond movie from Dr. No to Die Another Die... even Casino Royale, the 1960s Bond spoof and Never Say Never Again, a Bond movie that starred Sean Connery, but isn't counted in the totals as it wasn't a Flemming book during the times when every Bond was a Flemming book.

Lets just say I know ALOT about both Bond and Bourne, shall we?

Bond: has the backing of MI6, M, Q (now deceased), and Moneypenny... not to mention his counterparts at CIA, such as Felix Leiter.
Bourne: loner, but has Marie (until she is killed at the start of Supremacy movie... or kidnapped in the book, safely returned at the end of the book to reappear in Bourne Ultimatem (the 3rd in the Trilogy, which I started, but didn't finish)). Also has 1 to 2 friends including his Shrink.
ADVANTAGE: Bond

Bond: Has a car that can be driven from the back seat and can be invisible (BMW or Aston Martin), laser watch, poisonous darts in watch/pen, scanners, fake fingerprints, jackets that turn into padded balls, tight ropes that detatch from his belt... need I go on?
Bourne: Also an excellent driver, terrible ugly small little red car that is Marie's, doesn't leave fingerprints, highly adaptable
ADVANTAGE: Bond

Bond: speaks English and bits of Japanese, to the best of my knowledge
Bourne: speaks alot more languages including French, Chinese, English, Japanese, other Far Eastern dialects, and probably more languages too. Bits of Swiss, I believe.
ADVANTAGE: Bourne

Bond: can have any woman he wants... good, evil, chaste, twins
Bourne: lives for Marie, a woman who is decent, but not gorgeous
ADVANTAGE: Bond

Bond: has been doing it for over 40 years now, and looks younger now than then (Pierce vs Sean). Hasn't lost a fight in 40 years, incuding Jaws, Baron Samedi, Oddjob, Mr. Kidd and Mr. Winn, and plenty of others. Swordfighting is aparently a talent of Mr. Bond's also. Beat Scaramanga in a pistol fight, rumored to be the best pistol fighter in the world.
Bourne: Also kicks amazing ass, including 4 other CIA programmed agents. Sniping, hand-to-hand combat, and 25+ vs 1 are no match for Bourne.
ADVANTAGE: Draw

Bond: Goes out and fights for England. For the glory. For stopping S.P.E.C.T.R.E. from achieving world domination. For stopping at least 10 different evil madmen from using nuclear weapons to do very bad things.
Bourne: Fights for self-preservation and revenge. Also for Marie.
ADVANTAGE: Bond

I think the answer to this debate is obvious... then again, Bond has been in over 20 films/books, while Bourne has 2 movies and 4 books. Omega's story is awesome and I await the rest.

Bourne is better at hand to hand combat, MUCH MUCH better, but Bond has the technology on his side... tough to say really...
