New Song (Discocube)

Re: New Song (Discocube)

I'm saying you should design your own "authentic" sounds, like replicate whatever sound you are aiming to achieve.

Nope my good man- zero.

And either way, why should it matter? A piano is a legendary and powerful sound that cannot be replicated otherwise by any other synthesized instrument. I don't see a reason to why I should or should not be able to use a certain sound.

EDIT: **** yes there is.

I enjoy the piano as much as you do, but you do incorporate hand-played piano parts into your songs a lot.

Re: New Song (Discocube)

I thought you were talking about creating synthesized sounds. I guess I was wrong- enlighten me.

I could do that, but I think everyone can agree that a real guitar sound a milestones better than a fake one. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to that sort of thing.

Re: New Song (Discocube)

I think what sleepless means is you should learn to shape sound so your songs will stop carrying a generic Reason soundstamp.

Here, I'll give an example.

I wanted to create a lush cinematic string with a choir underneath to flesh it out, the other main one is a emulation of a violin sort of in the style you hear in celtic folk music to accompany it for that emptiness and loss feeling, overcoming, you know?

So this is what I started with after some simple editing of the base synth, to include the attack, decay, and some modulation settings.

and then below is what I ended up with.

I included other elements of the breakdown in there, just so you can get a feel of what it's supposed to be like and add in basses like what people would probably expect from a song I've done.

And I don't know if you listened to Zerofuser much, but some of the emulating he did with guitars and such, hell I've played guitar for a decade and i couldn't tell the difference. It was so sick.
