Charish, I disagree. You can't say that with any certainty. That spark could have been the occasionally occuring 1-in-900-trillion-chance-of-staying-longer-than-a-millisecond pair of matter and antimatter atoms that randomly pop up in vacuum. If that pair stayed, it would have caused one heck of an explosion. That's the explanation for the Big Bang. Experiments have proved that the matter-antimatter pairs do naturally pop up and can be made, and even though they almost always disappear nearly instantly, if two stayed (possible) it would cause a massive chain reaction. We actually have the entire Big Bang mapped out.

Where did those atoms come from?

Something has to have existed forever that started all this.

The bible isn't a creation of God. It's the teachings of Jesus in.. story form.

If you would actually read the Bible you would know your claims to be inaccurate.

I'm almost forced to study/read the Bible. I attend a catholic highschool. But, if I'm wrong.. I'm wrong..

Chardish, you are wrong. From nothing, occasionally nothing pops up (one atom and one anti-atom to cancel it to nothing). Occasionally instead of that nothing becoming nothing again, the nothing stays as nothing. In just the perfect situation, that nothing becomes a mass of insanely intense burning energy that is still nothing and later became our bigger nothing. From nothing came nothing and eventually it shall be nothing again. (This follows a simple equation: 1 + (-1) = 0). No eternal god being needed, just a ton of time for just the right situation to happen for nothing to become our nothing today.

You cannot take a void of nothing where nothing exists, then claim that something can randomly pop out of nowhere.

Math doesn't work to justify your argument because math and physics are strictly divorced. Math contains many very theoretical concepts that do not exist in the real world.

It's physics. And something isn't popping out of nothing. I already told you that. Nothing is popping out of nothing. Nothing from nothing does not violate any rules.

Actually DracIV is right. He just wants to say "nothing" as many times as possible and isnt explaining it very well lol.

There is a set amount of energy in the universe, and that amount = 0.
Anytime that you "use" energy, it is really just moved somewhere else; it is just borrowed from 0. Eventually, we will have to "pay it back."
Because E=mc2 all matter is borrowed from 0 as well. That is why we have antimatter, to borrow positive (matter) a negative (antimatter) must be created. The two meet and ka-boom; you have 0 again.
                    Does that help?
To be honest, I dunno if I believe that is how the universe was created, but the principles themselves are facts. It is how scientists create antimatter.
Physics is a type of math, so math CAN justify his argument.

Good explanation Thingy, but as you said, that does not explain the creation of the universe.

DracIV has a theory that truly does make sense. I like that theory better than the religious-God-creation story. I do not believe in a God, but, I have the rest of my life to make up my mind about my beliefs. So, I believe that all theories are possible, but, right now there is no way to prove one theory or another. Who knows what might happen in the future, though?

I feel that though the universe could have been formed through science like in the big bang, i agree with chardish in a way that if the universe was formed through matter and anti-matter that God created the matter and anti-matter, or made it possible for matter anti-matter to even exist. I am not in favor of the creator of this forum stating that he dislikes the fact that other christians believe in a religion that differs from his. I don't mean to make him look evil or bad but i think that if someone else wants to have different beliefs than me, fine. If they follow the bible more or less closely than me, so be it. But God did start something, it was just what that something did that got us to where we are today.

the universe itself is compleatly balanced. all matter is energy, and when combined into a commont vessal all energy = 0.

god is a concept. not nesicarily a person.
