Forums are popular because they usually pertain to an audience that may not have as much to say, but has more important things to say, for example when one is chatting, it may only be a matter of moments before the chatters have nothing to say to each other. While one forums, that topic is defined and already there is a larger basis of conversation then the usual "Whats up?!" used when chatting. Forums are also a place to learn, I've learned many things while visitng the CT forum, (I admit I haven't posted much) and it has provided me with enjoyment to reflect upon what others think. We have opinions, thats why forums were created.

Well lets look at it on a more realistic level. When you voice your opinion in an online forum there are virtually no physical real world ties that hold you to what you say. All feedback positive or negative is expressed by a virtual online pseudonym and persona. It gives people who normally would never utter a word in a conversation due to fear of the repercussions of what the others think about the speakers opinion. I have a feeling that some of the people who post on here would never say things close to what they on her in a real life situation. They can be as politically incorrect and insensitive as they may please. Sometimes this isnt always a good thing, but it does lead to some very interesting conversations every once in a while...... hence the popularity of forums.

I love forums, because I've met tons of very cool people on forums. Some of my best friends I know through forums only (well, not counting talking on the phone with them, but I still met them through forums.)
