    Friendship and trust

So.........I just experienced an odd but rather thought provoking experience. Which brings me to my question.

Is it better to tell a friend that you no longer like them or should you act like nothing is wrong and talk about them behind their back or should you never speak to them and avoid them like the plague? Are friendships based on trust or just things you have in common?

    RE: Friendship and trust

Be straight up. I hate bullshit. Tell the person. Silent treatment is annoying as hell, and i've recently had someone just decide them would avoid me like the plague instead of just telling me, which really pissed me off.

And friendships can be based on many things. Not just those two.

      RE: Friendship and trust

I think friendships are initiated on common interest, but if it continues and develops... theres a lot more to it. It evolves into a relationship after time. You should explain to this person why you don't care to speak to them. Also, you have to look at why you no longer like them. Is there something they someone did, or perhaps just a mutual growing apart? Each instance is different, but to just ignore it isn't the answer.

        RE: Friendship and trust

have the same problem :/ Just in case, I think I will add that my friend and I are both male. Anyway, my friend, we'll call him Ryan. Ryan bugs me a lot, like by repeating funny phrases (I know, I know. They're supposed to be funny. But not after the 1784th time!) I guess now is the time to mention that I secretly hate people that are less intelligent than me (no offence, less intelligent people), and he get bad grades (I think it's 'cause he doesn't pay attention 'cause he's too busy talking :/ We have been friends since the second grade (we're in 8th now), but I feel as if he hasn't matured at all. He's a really nice kid, and I'm a nice person, so I can't just say "Ryan, this is hard for me to tell you but I don't think we can be friends anymore", but he gets on my nerves... what should I do?

        Oh, yeah, your problem =þ

Friendships CAN be based upon things in common, but in my life, I was (and still am =þ) a nice person, so anyone could have become my friend, but I became friends with a LOT of my friends that I hang out with today because we all liked Pokemon (2nd grade). I guess it depends on the sitution (WHY you don't like the person or don't want to be friends) and if you're kind or not!

Don't talk about them about their back. That's stupid and mean.

            RE: Friendship and trust

Friends can be annoying. I'd suggest you tell him politely that the funny phrases are annoying, and then wait a year until he finally matures. It isn't worth destroying a friendship over a temporary gap between you.

              RE: Friendship and trust

I say be truthful! I have a friend and we are just growing apart. We used to be extremely close but now there's just a huge distance between us. Mostly we are just 2 very different people. However I told her how I felt and we remain friends, just not close friends. However if it ever got to the point where I just couldnt stand her anymore, I would tell her that she's bugging the heck outta me. If she told me she wasnt gonna stop being like that for whatever reason then I would tell her that it's her life im just not going to be around until she stops doing whatever it is thats buggin me.

u gotta talk to ur friend and say that. its always good to be truthful to urself and such and such. hopefully they will understand. if u just ignore the fact or talk behind their back, it can cause major rivalry and that can be a pain in the ass.

Son, how old are you?? This shouldn't really even be asked.
