I live about an hour away from the Dells so I get up there all the time. Not a huge fan of the tourist traps, though...I prefer the nature-y stuff, although the indoor waterparks are always a blast. For nine months of the year, they are definitely preferable to the outdoor variety.

The "Top Secret" attraction (which is basically just an upside-down white house) used to be Ripley's believe it or not. It was smaller then. I never went to either. There have been a lot of changes to the Dells/Lake Delton area in the past decade and a half, but since I haven't been to 95% of the attractions, I don't really get all nostalgic about it or anything.

One thing I dislike about the Dells is the restaurant selection. The good restaurants are overpriced, and there are a lot of places that would definitely not succeed were it not for the fact that tourists generally don't care too much about food quality as long as the atmosphere is fun.

that place looks really depressing in a very specific way that only indoor pools and the like can be really depressing
