lol I see. People seem to take offense sometimes in this forum (even to the extreme) so I try to avoid it. I had to carefully structure that post so no one would try to go off on me for no reason. But yea, lol thanks.

Still don't know what's going on. maybe it's for the best...

To be honest, I'm not following the latest controversy in Canadian politics too well. Has something to do with Bev Oda and co.

          harper in 2010:

"shit scandal in the house of commons, better protect the conservatives"

*closes parliament from late december 2009 to march 2010*

          "NOPE NOTHING TO HIDE"

also his budget was horrendous. he doesn't give two ****s about the working class and it's become pretty obvious from his lack of support that people aren't making as much money since the recession. gross domestic product is still shit, human development index plumeted below america's (obama isn't that bad, guys) and if that bastard thinks he can just close parliament on a whim, then who knows what else he could do to delay important decisions.

probably voting ndp again. hopefully they'll get more seats. they had almost as many votes as liberals (like 5 percent margin) but because they didn't win their respective seats, made it look as if they had less than bloc quebecois.

Anyway I'll more than likely be voting Conservative considering they've done a pretty great job keeping Canada in shape during the recession. Of course during a GLOBAL recession all countries are going to take a hit but if you think we sunk below America we obviously haven't since they were hit way harder by the recession. The NDP spend money like money grows on trees and would probably run Canada into terrible debt like they did last time, and Ignatiaff is a god damn moron in pretty much every way IMO, and it says a lot about the Liberals to me, even Paul Martin was crappy IMO. Harper isn't even close to perfect but for a politician he's half decent which is better than the rest of them.

I guess I can't really get angry at you fido... but your reasoning does not reflect the fact that any right government is retarded, and holds back progress...

Any left government will spend money, but all of the recent right governments are pummeling countries into debt regardless. China is left as ****, they aren't in debt. America is right, has their debt dropped below 3 Trillion yet?

Canada needs NDP, or Green, for at least 5 terms before anything noticeably helpful would happen. (Although I agree that all current party leaders are retarded, Harper cannot get back in power.)

Re: Time to hit the polls, Canada

Social governments sound all good on paper, but it wouldn't work in Canada for two reasons:

                1) Anything run by our government, or our government heavily involves itself in, turns into a disaster. I'm not just talking about the Federal government I'm talking about the provincial government too at least in Ontario. These programs end up becoming ill run, and overrun with HEAVILY overpaid bureaucrats and misspending. The private sector usually does a far better job offering better services and better rates because of competition. Survival of the fittest.

                2) Our society isn't ideal for any sort of socialist government. We have too many people who would simply take advantage of government programs. A country like China has a almost brainwashed civilization where they live to better their nation, more than bettering themselves (I don't mean by personality etc). I'd rather have a balance of needed social programs and low taxes so I can spend my money on myself rather than a bunch of people who are overweight and therefore disabled and can't work (yes, being overweight is now a disability in Ontario anyway).

The right doesn't hold us back, retarded right wing politics do. Right wing doesn't even mean you're against homosexuality or any sort of social advances, it's solely fiscal matters. I consider myself a centralist, and if I were to put PC anywhere on the scale I'd say they're centralists leaning towards the right a little. If NDP was in power for 5 terms IMO, we'd be bankrupt. Although their government programs sound nice, you need money to support those government programs.

Re: Time to hit the polls, Canada

I agree with your previous statements about the NDP, and because of my lack of detailed knowledge of politics I'm going to assume that your claim about the right politics is correct, and it sounds like a good argument.

The ideals, however, of the left wing, are what we want. Government run or not Canada is losing it's place as sanctuary and 'the country to look up to'.

It's frustrating being powerless, and more so that money is the only thing that would help. (Unless we the people managed to pull a miracle. Which are extremely rare.)

Yeah we lost our status in many cases already, Canada hasn't been looking so great, but it's still looking pretty high in general, at least higher to, say, Americans (no offense) since we're usually compared to them

Why the **** can't we do that? It would have been really helpful a few years back.

problem is, Canada already has lots of social services. NDP would simply prioritize funding and more services for families and taxing those who actually have money rather than cutting them taxes and boosting their already massive fortunes (hi conservatives). However to get there, the plan they wanted to put in action is quite costly. The Liberals have been the only party to consistently deliver positive results, up until all the leaders they chose as of late sucking massive gorilla penis. 15 years ago, I would've definitely voted Liberal.

as far as taking advantage goes, I don't think that's too much of an issue. I know lots more people willing to work (who don't mind giving 30+% of their pay to taxes for services) and contribute to our system. there's obviously always going to be the welfare dicknuts who don't do shit, but getting 400$ per month is hardly living and it's not like they can do much with it anyways.

so serpher with your ideal, you would fare much better in America. your mentality seems to be "my money, stay out of it i'm not funding you assholes" when this country's mentality is the complete opposite. There are plenty of people who are legitimately on disability (not for being fat that's dumb as fuc) who need those kinds of funds and it feels nice to know that if I'm ever in that situation, I can get help. I pay my part into the system, it eventually gives back. If we had to pay lower taxes, I wouldn't get the care I need free of charge when I'm at the emergency room. It's common sense.

as far as harper's job since he took office, it hasn't been all that bad. HOWEVER, anyone who tries to hide scandals by closing parliament for 3 months shouldn't really be in office. also investing billions in national defense to purchase jet planes is retarded. those billions could've been used for things tax payers actually wanted. but then again, when does that ever happen 8)

I would have no problem giving half of everything I make to the government if it wasn't squandered away in scandals and bureaucracy. I just honestly hate the way governments here run services so I really only want to fund the essentials. I know single mom's who try to carry a house and their kids on their back after their dad ran off. The mom cleans houses, mows lawns, and cleans houses cause she can't find a real job. Those are the people I don't mind supporting. I'm also a supporter of healthcare, and many other government services, I just find governments like the NDP overspend, and support unions I hate so much. At the end of the day there's a balance between spending money on government services and keeping the money you earn, and it's hard to say what that is as everybody values different things differently, I just tend to lie more where the PCs do (and they're more left than the democrats IMO). Yeah, I don't agree with a lot of the shit they do like those airplanes, but it's better than Iggy or the NDP IMO. I think they'd do better if they didn't have a bunch of idiots voting against them on every issue just to make them look bad, which is worse than proroguing parliament IMO. I'm pretty sure they were also other reasons for them proroguing parliament, but I honestly can't even remember now.
