What? I don't know anyone who looks like anyone on here. This kind of thing you only see in public high schools, when everyone is so superficial and bored that they have to occupy themselves with outward appearances and the school gives too little of a crap to do anything about it.

The only "scenes" that would come close to approximating any real people I know are "Williamsburg hipster" and, I suppose, "prehistoric emo" if you removed that ridiculous vest.

You see a couple of scenesters post a thread, get flamed to ****, and leave forever every once in a while, and there's a few regulars who keep it more or less on the down low.

Looks like I get:

Scene Queen lmfao (Imogen Heap)
Nintendocore (anamanaguchi and sabrepulse, reddit.com and mega64 as well **** they have my number on those bookmarks)
Fixed gear hipster (ratatat and girl talk) for the record this is my least favorite hipster


and I occasionally wear black/grey denim so that adds like a quarter of the listed scenes I guess. I also know a ridiculous number of indie jesus', that **** was all over my highschool, though it had a real 'hippie' vibe meshed in around there.

Also steampunk looks ****ing awesome but really that's to be expected because steampunk is tits

I don't really see how they came up with the Playlist for fixed gear hipster, I mean, I'm sure we all do listen to Ratatat and Girl Talk, but they totally missed on the whole twinkle daddy scene that fixed gear hipsters listen to, such as Algernon Cadwallader and Street Smart Cyclist.

I like all kinds of bikes really (except mtbs because they're just unreasonable to ride around on streets.) But I do love my fixie. I know it does sound unreasonable to have a bike that can't switch gears and doesn't have brakes (mine has brakes,) but when you actually get on and ride one, it just feels so much smoother.

First of all, you don't have to worry about switching down gears before you come to a stop.
Second, you get massive leg muscles just from slowing yourself down on a fixie. I already had giant muscles above my knees from riding bikes, but after a week riding a fixie they were twice as big from adding resistance.
Third, no clicking noises from your derailleur.
Fourth, because there are no gears, your bike goes exactly as fast as you pedal it.

Fixies are actually very practical for flat roads and city streets, and when you hit a hill, that's just time to nut up or shut up.

I do understand why people don't like the scene because when it comes down to it, it's a scene like all others. And people just don't like scenes.

been riding fixed for a few years now, brakeless for around a year

basically it is just really fun riding fixed. city riding especially is a lot more enjoyable. you really feel the road and everything around you because especially with no brakes, you have to be more aware of every car, pedestrian, and whatever else on the road. i like to ride fast, pedal fast, and feel like my bike is an extension of my body. definitely not for everyone but id recommend you give riding fixed a shot, you might like it

also; fixed gears are easier to maintain, build, and upgrade

Okay I can totally see the maintenance thing that actually is pretty attractive to me. The rest of that is not important enough for me, I think. I really really enjoy being able to do more technical stuff with clip-ins and brakes, but maintaining a bike (especially when I used to race x-country) was the worst **** ever.

btw, I thought it was the free-wheel mechanism that made the clicking noise, not the derailleur? Once I got mine replaced, my bike went from jet engine loud clicking to ninja quiet

I have a hard time admitting this but I am not passionate enough about music for it to define who I am. Very few people can admit that they don't really care about music, but I really don't. I enjoy it. I like listening to good songs, but I have never found a genre that makes me feel like wow this is who I am.

I can honestly say I wasn't expecting anyone to be a cybergoth.

Or rude boy, for that matter, although a lot of people do wear rude boy attire.

I never expected it to be listed on a "scene" site lol. Also ska is awesome as well but I have no clue what that has to do with being a rude boy and everyone I know that listens to ska is either chill or a chill pothead and wears regular clothes haha.
