I've had a few friends appeal tickets over the past year and the cop has always showed up. Like Dark said, these are hard times, and it's less likely that you'll see no-shows at the current moment.

Your argument itself doesn't hold any water because there's almost never a good excuse for speeding (there are few exceptions, but yours isn't one of them). You're making it sound like you *had* to be going that fast. Believe me, you never *need* to break the limit, and the argument will never win under appeal.

I think appealing is a waste of time at this point but you can always bank on the cop not showing up, so it wouldn't hurt to try. But if he shows up, I think you're pretty much out of luck.



EnR: You technically broke the law and got a pretty decent reduction as it stands. You're not likely to get rid of the ticket.

if you both show up see if you can at least explain it and get him to take off the "following too closely" hit and just take the speeding, that much will definatly help just make sure you have a good case otherwise the cop is just gonna laugh at you
