I also wish I was taller, but for a real reason. I play volleyball and am 6'3. Most people that play college however are >6'5... although I am not a hitter and height isn't something that I'm worried about, I would like to be up there just to have bragging rights. =[
This.
I SHOULD be playing varsity, but I'm 5'10", so obviously, I am a libero. The problem is, I just had to go to a university that has 4 liberos. I either need to grow to like, 6'2" (I'm working on increasing my vertical right now as well, jumping 34" atm) so that I can be a hitter, or kill all the other liberos so that I can play. Or they can just disappear somehow. Either way, I don't get to play and it's pissing me off.
My mother is 5 foot, my father 6'3...so it was really a crap shoot for me. I stopped growing at 5'4...but I'm female so I'm just about average, I guess. I wouldn't have minded being like 5'7, though.
Wouldn't recommend stretching your spine for height unless you're into hurting yourself.
Also, weightlifting doesn't ever stunt growth; it stimulates growth hormone production; and the more intense the exercise, the more hormones will be released. What, do people actually believe doing heavy squats would compress their spines? o_o
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle (good nutritional uptake and regular cardiovascular exercise) while weightlifting would help Sephi's cause. Very general, but those are ultimately the only two things a person could do, really.
Heavy lifting at a young age damages your growth plates.... (Probably ninja'd but I didn't read previous posts)

I really doubt it. You may be able to find communities of people online preaching that same popular notion but it's no better than a rumour without there being legitimate, replicated research to back it up. On something like this I'd need to see the paper before believing it... I mean, it could easily have been an article on people of a certain age with a certain deficiency lifting a certain exorbitant amount of weight in a certain way a certain number of times, over a certain time frame, having a certain mild effect, passed on with only the first and third preliminary details by a bodybuilding enthusiast, then exalted as enlightenment by everyone it reached, eventually becoming conventional wisdom to internet surfers.

Shorter females = much cuter and much more attractive. In my opinion anyway. I'm 5'6", maybe 5'7" and I haven't grown at all in the past year so I guess I'm done. My GF is 5'2"ish which I love <3
