    Re: Rhythm versus FPS gamers

none of you have played fps games competitively. rubix you would suck at any competitive pc fps game because you're used to controlled systems where nothing changes (hi your name is mr. rubix).

everyone else: rhythm games are easy. they test physical traits. competitive fps is hard. it tests ya mind games.

Dude, I will challenge you to any FPS and kick your ass hard at it, lol. Just because I haven't spent as much time on FPS as I have on rhythm doesn't mean I suck (I've never entered a competition but I've beaten plenty who have -- could hold my own against two friends who were Cyberathlete players). Unlike you, I'm good at anything I do. Of course, you wouldn't understand this Mr. I-Go-To-OSU lmao.

BTW ya dumbass try being good at rhythm games first before you start calling them "easy."

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you're gettin' at? Are you saying that competitive FPS gamers are considerably better than those who don't play competively? Are you saying that you're better than non-competitive gamers? Also, would you say that you feel superior to other FPS gamers?

Edit: Sorry, but I don't quite get how you guys are comparing these two genres. Is there a thread I should have read prior to this? Also, I'm pretty sure everyone understands how rhythm games work. But I don't think most people understand how lame most FPSs are, and that trying to perform any kind of study on them is worthless. So you run around and shoot people, big deal. So it takes some skill to put a target in your sights and fire, still not that big of a deal. So there's lots of strategy in trying to whore on all the good weapons, locations, spawn times, and good teamwork... who cares? I just don't see where the comparing comes into play. I saw that you guys were comparing difficulties earlier. Learning curve-wise it would look like rhythm games are steeper because you'll lose pretty quickly if you mess up. FPSs only look easier to learn because a rookie can still survive for some time while doing the wrong thing. I don't care about learning curves though. Which genre is harder at a competitive level? I still don't see what's comparable, but I guess you could say that skill-wise rhythm games are incredibly hard. This is because rhythm games are only skill, and the only skill in FPSs is aiming and firing, which isn't even what helps the most. In FPSs, it's all about strategy. I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that gamers with lots of good strategy and tactics will consistently beat gamers without those traits. The aiming and firing aspect seems to have been mastered by everyone, so you can pretty much just disregard it. The reason that everyone is all the same at aiming and firing is because FPS games make giant hitboxes, little health, and lots of powerful weapons. These things get rid of the aiming and consistency skills. So when playing an FPS, the thing to master is thinking "what to do next?" while rhythm games are strictly reading and responding quickly.

that's cool. my statement still stands that you're incapable of adapting to anything that isn't a controlled system. hint: you play ffr and flashgames, and ya name is mr. rubix.

not that i really care much about fps 1v1s but if you want to play me at cod2/cod4/cs and "kick my ass hard" at them, then by all means try. you could try 1v1ing me at dota and hon too.

and nice ego kid. i'm sure it's a big hit with the ladies (aka girls on ffr because ya can't get anything irl).

also, this debate is really, really, really stupid. it's like saying "BASKETBALL VERSUS FOOTBALL WHICH ONE IS THE HARDEST"

both have an entirely different necessary skillset which barely even touches on one another

btw rubix is one of those guys who joined a ut2k4 onslaught pub and went 30-21 and went "wow im so good at fps"

i dont even want him to say he wants to play me in cs

not only is 1v1 cs stupid it just wouldn't be fair
