this isn't just about religious prohibitions. everything that is coincidentally perceived as forbidden and as [good for your social status, exciting, delicious, important, whatever else] falls in this category.

it all comes down to perception, so the "good" you think you're getting by doing something forbidden is sometimes purely fictional. take drug abuse, stealing etcetera. what should regulate human behavoiur, especially in the field of forbidden habits is just the logic of earning.
