Very interesting, as I also took the cover off my keyboard yesterday because I had spilled Red Bull in it. Expecting to just clean up the wet parts and close it back up, I was appalled at what lay in wait. Vomit did then ensue.

My keyboard hasn't been cleaned since I got it five years ago. I'm actually tempted to find out just how bad it is.

Edit: I removed the space bar. It wasn't that bad down there.

Dare you to smell it, and i clean mine every couple months because I run on a laptop, soon as a key gets stiff, i clean it.

Smelled fine, it was the smell afterward that bothered me.

My keyboard hasn't been cleaned since I got it five years ago. I'm actually tempted to find out just how bad it is.

Edit: I removed the space bar. It wasn't that bad down there.

Remove some more keys, my space bar and right area wasn't as bad as the left.

I've never taken the keys off of a keyboard to clean it, but I've peered between the keys in horror at the crusty hell that develops underneath. When I lived with my parents, we had 2 dogs that shed... A LOT. Both of them slept in my room on most nights (I was the only one with carpet. Dogs love carpet). Under my keys it looked like I had a dog-fur rug. =\

Well I just cleaned my keyboard, and while it was not as dirty as Oni's, there were a couple of clumps of dusts mingled with hair. There was also a surprising amount of dust trapped under the space bar.

Vacuuming works wonders...

Just make sure you don't jam the thing in there or it'll suck out your keys right off!

And then you'll have to take off the dust bag and stick your hand in... there... and... try finding the key. I had to do it once, it wasn't THAT gross... It's like searching through cotton.
